And, SS just informed me that the Wild have won. I was hoping for a Canadian final but that's the eternal optimist in me!

Red Wings GM confirms Hasek talks
6/24/2003

Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has confirmed that retired goaltender Dominik Hasek is considering a comeback.

On Monday, Hasek's agent told TSN that the superstar goaltender had contacted the Red Wings "several times over the past couple of weeks about the possibility of him coming back."

At first, Detroit management would not comment on Winter's claims but, on Tuesday, Holland admitted that it was true - Hasek was considering a return to the National Hockey League.

Woooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooo!

I'm not the Hasek fan that Steph is, but dammit, I'll take Hasek over CuJo anyday!!!!!!

I just hope Ken Holland has the balls to go for it and re-sign Hasek and send CuJo back to Toronto.............They can HAVE him!!!!

P.S. Thanks for the update, Steph!!!!

Steph 06-24-2003 11:56 AM

You're welcome, SS. I know Cujo was growing on you but he's no Hasek!

The rumour is that Jagr and Cujo might be signed to the Rangers.

The Dominator is back in the NHL, Wings must now deal Cujo

(CP) - The Dominator is back. Now the domino effect begins. In one of the worst-kept secrets in hockey, the Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday that 38-year-old Dominik Hasek is ending his one-year retirement.

Wooooooohooooooooooooooo!

Sugarsprinkles 03-13-2004 11:47 PM

Well, the Dominator was a total bust this season. Although I will say it was the right thing to do for him to refuse half of his $6million salary since he barely played at all.

Any opinions on the mess with Todd Betuzzi/Moore and the subsequent suspension???

And btw, Welcome to any and all hockey fans who have joined in the past few months.

imalikalotapuss 03-14-2004 12:16 AM

Personally i think that what Betuzzi got was warranted. I know there is a lot that goes on that we never see. But all sports is getting to violent..even the kids are getting to carried away and the parents are fighting. Maybe he was made an example of, and hopefully he didn't mean to do what he did. Doesn't change the fact that Moore is seriously injured, and who knows may never come back. Just my two cents...GO AV'S :D

Steph 03-15-2004 03:07 PM

I think he got what he deserved, too. It was premeditated.

Go Leafs go!

campingboy 03-16-2004 11:07 PM

Everyone says that violence can not be taken out of the NHL. The hockey at the Olympics was great. Everyone loved watching it. That was true hockey. It required skill, not a goon squad. I think that one of the reasons that the NHL can not or will not remove the violence is that there are not enough players today that have the skill to play good hockey.
