More outdoors pics
The thread from back in September of this year is here:
http://www.pixies-place.com/forums/...ead.php?t=35614 But I went back in October to get follow-up pics of the Potomac River, C & O Canal, and some fall foliage pics, as well. Again, too large for attachments, so I'll post links to the pics on Photobucket. Many (most ?) of the locks on the canal have water by-passes for overflow. As here: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...erflowFalls.jpg And some wildlife in the canal: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/.../DuckHeron1.jpg One of the comparasion pics, you can see how much the water has receeded from before: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...edingWaters.jpg And here, that bridge, with the log, but nowhere near as much water: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...UnderTheLog.jpg This time, the bridge was not closed, so we were able to get to some of the islands in the middle of the river. And just upstream from the bridge: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...UnderBridge.jpg |
And on the other side of the bridge, we had views like a tree that survived the flood:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...edOakRapids.jpg And a series of pics from the same vantage point: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...LowPotomac1.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...LowPotomac2.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...LowPotomac3.jpg http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...LowPotomac4.jpg |
More comparasion pics. The narrows, with low water:
http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...ws1LowWater.jpg The gorge, looking downstream: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...rgeLowWater.jpg And part of the river bank, dry: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...ics/DryLand.jpg And there was a fern at the base of a tree that managed to not get washed out: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...ernInRocks1.jpg But anyway, the URL for the full album is: http://s251.photobucket.com/albums/...tomacRiverPics/ |
And here are some non-comparasion pics. Fall foliage instead.
The tree on top of the cliff, with autumn colors (not very prominent): http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...nCliffTree2.jpg Some yellows: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...reesCropped.jpg And reds: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...ghRedAutumn.jpg and mixed colors: http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/...oloredTrees.jpg And lastly, the URL for that full album: http://s251.photobucket.com/albums/...gTheCandOCanal/ |
Liked the fall pics. The leaves here are finally showing their stuff too.
