Anal Sex theory

So there's been quite a bit of discussion on the Rants and Raves section of an online classified I read regarding what anal sex does to the sphincter muscle. Some say it makes it so loose, that you'll loose bowl control, some say the opposite. I'm curious about fellow pixies opinions. Haven't quite gotten the guts up to ask my Dr. about this one but am an avid anal fan.

I think if it were true gay men would be buying stock in Depends. I think if you tear the sphincter repeatedly you may have problems but careful planning can prevent that.

The sphincter is a muscle. If it got looser with use it would be the only muscle I know of that gets weaker as you use it.

Like Lilith said if you tear it that's a different story, but slow carefull anal sex shouldn't do that.

I think the point is, though, that the muscle is used to keep the contents of our bowels in, not to have things inserted into it. Anal sex works because you relax that muscle, not because you tighten it. ;)

However, like others have said here, I don't imagine it does much harm, and you can always do Kegel excercises to keep it in trim.

Tristan Taormino says differently in The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women.

What exactly does Tristan say? I've never read her book, but I know she is regarded as one of the highest autorities on anal sex.

I agree with Lou that relaxing is key when it comes to anal.

My own opinion on Jen's post is that as long as there is lubrication and patience there isn't anything to fear as far as the sphincter is concerned.

I'm too tired to look it up right now but it basically comes down to just like any other muscle the more you use it the stronger it gets.

I've also seen anecdotal evidence from others saying basically the same thing on her message board.

Thank you everyone for the feedback so far. My personal opinion runs along the lines of it doesn't hurt you in the long run to enjoy the anal loving. :) I like hearing what other people have to say though.

Are we allowed to post URL's? If not, I'm sorry and won't do it again.

This was an entertaining video I found on a class on anal sex. http://badjojo.com/daily/video.php?var=6.03.24/10.wmv
