!!!...Good To Know...!!!

As she was walking around at a BBQ, she stumbled and fell for no apparent reason. Concerned friends and onlookers helped her up. She insisted she was fine. She claimed she was breaking in new shoes. They cleaned up her spilled plate and got her more to eat.

Later, they got a phone call that she had died the next morning.

If anyone at the party had known the signs of a stroke and applied them to her situation...she might still be alive and well today!

Some doctors insist that if a patient is diagnosed and treated for a stroke within 3 hours they will almost always have a complete recovery.

A simple test if a stroke seems likely:

S * SMILE...Ask the person to smile.

T * TALK...Ask the person to speak an entire sentence (ie: The sun is shining today).

R * RAISE BOTH ARMS

S*T*R...SOMETHING TO PUT IN YOUR MEMORY BANK. REPEAT IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN TILL IT IS SECOND NATURE. YOU MAY NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT NEED TO RECALL IT!

One additional sign if you are still unsure...Ask the person to stick out their tongue. If it is twisted or curled and odd looking...call 911 immediately and relay any and all of the symptons! Is the smile droopy? Can't they speak an entire sentence? One arm won't raise as high or at all? All or any of the above?

Now practice...STR...STR...STR...STR!!!!!!!

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW OF THIS SIMPLE TEST!

Save a life!

Thanks Lixy. This is indeed some very good info to be aware of. I've been unfortunate enough to see someone have a stroke and luckily I did know what was going on. Called 9-1-1 and thankfully they got there in time and he made it through.

Yeah! Send that to all the kids you know that can remember CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and 911. Us people that have to check our dog tags when we sign our name are not going to be a lot of help. :roflmao:

It was actually one of the scariest things I've ever seen. It was a former co-worker and we were out having dinner before going to a ballgame. Leonard was just sitting there and all of a sudden he just sort of lost his balance and nearly fell out of his chair. His speech was slurred, but I don't think he realized it.

This was back in the mid-90's before everyone always had a cell phone with them so I grabbed a waitress and told her to call 9-1-1. I'm just glad it happened when it did because if it would've been at the ballgame, I probably would've just cut him off from the beer and taken him home. Since he hadn't had a single drop to drink it was pretty obvious something was terribly wrong. Not a night I will ever forget, that's for sure.

STR ? a sexy threesome is ready? :3way: I thank you for the offer I"ll be right over!

Thats something I learned the hard way 12yrs ago when my wife had a mild stroke at age 40! Now recovered and doing well, but when she says her face is feeling numb we go see the DR.!

Everyone should take a class on basic first aid theres lots of free classes out there ! Take advantage of it!
