The what are you having for dinner thread
 

It's a popular thread on a Toronto message board I frequent and holy crud, they're fancy pantses about their food. Half the time I have to google the meals -- yesterday one dude had, as part of his three course meal:
langusten with pesto citrus mayo

I still don't know what langusten is but I digress.

It's so freaking hot and I don't know what to eat!!!

Help me, what are you making/cooking/ordering?

Dinner what's that :hair:

tortellini with chick peas, garlic, locatelli and butter. a salad and garlic cheese bread

Anything I can clean out of my refrigerator/freezer and/or cabinets in preparation for the move. :D

Bad night to ask...I have a meeting tonight and won't get home until after 9. :(

Locatelli, langusten . . . I'm beginning to wonder if I have a cooking learning disability towards any L word foods.

Don't worry, WI. I predict you'll be a mainstay and an inspiration in this thread!

I've been single for a while and tend to go the PF route of never cooking lately. I will probably check out the new Tibetan restaurant up the block but it's so freaking hot that I'm hardly eating anyway.

I'm having the chicken noodle casserole that I made and popped into the crock pot this afternoon

locetelli is like parmesan cheese.

I've never heard of locetelli and I have no clue what langusten is -- I'll have to PM buddy on that board.

My last boyfriend was Portuguese and he talked about "Portuguese" cheese which was actually "St. George" cheese.

I can tell you Steph, you'll never have any trouble understanding what I'm having for dinner. :p Could be chili-mac (one of my specialities) or marinated chicken breasts with baked potatoes (a mainstay from Mrs Aqua). But I don't think there is anything we normally eat that starts with an 'L'. :p

You ran through female body part names before you posted, didn't you? :D

Oooh, musicman! Squash! It's been a while since I've made squash mainly cuz I can't bear to have the oven on in my third-floor walk-up.

We boil it on the stove and when it's mushy, add some brown sugar and margarine (1 tbsp of each apporx.) and mix it all together....

With water in a pot? I've only done squash in the oven.

Hmmm Boog is looking thru is food stash as I type...no clue what he will come up with for supper. I like his cooking....maybe someday I'll attempt it. LOL

yep - with water in a pot (we buy the squash chunks or if they are out, cut up the inside of the squashinto chunks to boil)

OMG OMG I just had soooooo much Tibetan food and will pass out in about four seconds.

Tibetan food! Tee hee! It cracks me up to say! While I waited for my take-out order, I walked the pup but went back in the restaurant to stare at their beautiful portrait of the Dalai Lama. :D

It's like a combo of Indian/Chinese/Mongolian food but hotter, I swear! They gave me "lassi" while I waited, a yogurty drink (they're lucky/I'm lucky I'm back on the meat bandwagon for a bit cuz it was enough meaty/dairy protein to help me climb Everest).

Good food, zzzzzzzzz, must. pass. out. now.

from what i could gather google-style...i think langusten is some kind of crustacean.

Looks around, licks lips and sighs ~they don't serve that on the menus around here~

I had dinner out... steak, parmesan garlic mashed potatoes, and a much to large piece of chocolate cake. I'm desperately craving baked ravioli though.

The son-in-law went fishing this weekend and we had a fish fry

striped bass grilled or fried, fried potatos with onions, hush puppies and salad

I nibbled at some rice from my leftovers and found some hot sauce I'd forgotten about. The Tibetans have the hottest hot sauce EVER!!!!!! :hot:

Lasagna, spinach salad with almonds and cherries, and a dry Chianti

if I'm not wrong langusten is a close cousin to teh shrimp

Cool, Booger and wyndhy will be PMed when I have cooking questions!!! You'd think I'd have heard of the langusten growing up on the Atlantic.

I had grilled chicken with a caesar salad.

Maddy should have been here. :D

I cooked Ravioli tonight :wiggles:














Remove metal lid under plastic cover, replace plastic cover.
Microwave on HIGH power for 45 seconds or until warm.
Let stand for 1 minute in microwave.
Remove from microwave by grasping container by sides.
DO NOT LIFT BY PLASTIC COVER.
Stir before serving.

Amazing PF....surprised you didn't have to take your bed after all that exertion. :rofl:

but microwaved is definitely not the same as baked!

AH! I had to go into the kitchen and I didn't eat it with a plastic fork. I COOKED!!!

i'm making homemeade ravs later in the week, maddy. you c'mon up to my house and i'll put a special order in the oven just for you..with lots of italian cheeses and souped-up newman's own sockarooni sauce ;)

to ight? it's just me an the kids so prolly mac n chesse, carrot sticks and chicken nuggets

I'm thinking a salad....and might grill some salmon to put on top. Depends on how fishy I feel later. :D
