Pixies Civil Defense

Mother Day Tornado

While I do not have any Pixies that have asked to be listed on our Pixie Maps, we know we have quite a few regular members in the state and area. Already this year has been particularly active with twisters all over the USA and not limited to traditional Tornado Alley.

I will be watching closely for the Pixies I know in these areas to be checking in with us and hoping they have all been spared. :wish:

I have to say I found it entirely ironic that just yesterday (Saturday) msnbc.com had up a feature story about this town and how the lead levels from mining days were dangerous and people had been (and are still being?) offered buyouts to move from the area. I believe they were having a town birthday celebration this weekend - but oddly that's not mentioned in any of the tornado coverage.

Oldfart 05-12-2008 05:53 AM

It looks like the beginning of a bad season.

It's only paranoia if they're not out to get you. Recent talk of UN intervention in

this mess has only proven to the junta that the West wants to interfere.

scotzoidman 05-16-2008 09:38 PM

True, even paranoids have real enemies, but these guys are building a new artform that would even boggle Adolf's mind.

PantyFanatic 05-16-2008 09:56 PM

That ^^^ seems to be going around in high places, doesn't it?

After a pretty rough night weather-wise all is fine here at the IowaMan household. We were very lucky here in my little town, there apparently was a tornado hovering above but I don't believe it touched down.

The sirens started going off here at 11:20pm and on tv they were saying that a tornado had been spotted about 30 miles to the west of here and according to their computers should be in my town at 11:47pm. Judging by the sounds I was hearing while in the basement, I believe they were right on target with that assessment.

Anyway, the only damage here seems to be the flattening of a newly planted flower bed from the wind, rain and hail. Oh, and three very freaked out adult cats that won't leave my side this morning.

IowaMan 09-12-2008 11:08 AM

Any Pixies in the path of Hurricane Ike?

I spoke with Shadozfire last night and she has relocated for the storm. Hopefully everybody makes it through ok. :wish:

Aqua 09-12-2008 05:56 PM

Glad to hear that. ^^^

Oldfart 09-12-2008 11:36 PM

WW's in for a rough time in Houston.

Oldfart 09-13-2008 06:14 AM

The eye has now passed Houston.

dicksbro 09-13-2008 07:03 AM

Here's hoping everyone in the path of this storm will stay safe. :wish:

Oldfart 09-13-2008 07:08 AM

Amen.

Oldfart 09-13-2008 06:58 PM

And?

Anything heard yet?

Scarecrow 09-14-2008 04:04 PM

2 million people in the Houston area have no power.

gekkogecko 09-14-2008 04:08 PM

I'm still waiting to hear from my relatives who were forced to move to Houston from New Orleans.

IowaMan 09-15-2008 08:23 AM

Shadozfire called me last night and she's ok. Took her a couple of hours to be able to get through though. She's not sure what she's going to find when she gets back to her house though.

My sister and family came through ok other than having one of the trees in their yard blown over onto the house. No injuries though, thank goodness.

Both are without power and I'm thinking probably will be for some time. :(

Oldfart 09-15-2008 04:22 PM

Lucky it was only a Cat2. A Cat4 would have been a hundred times worse.

scotzoidman 09-15-2008 09:24 PM

It may have been a Cat2, but it was no pussy.

Oldfart 09-16-2008 03:11 AM

Enough to flatten neighbourhoods.

Oldfart 03-02-2012 11:09 PM

From hurricanes to tornados.

I pray all our Pixies in the zone are safe.

dicksbro 03-03-2012 07:12 AM

Amen to that, OF ... amen to that!

ShadowDancer 03-03-2012 09:30 PM

had few touch down around town, but all is well in our household. we never lost power, just tv signal briefly. the kiddos & I hunkered down on the couch while hubs went to work. a couple parts of town were heavily affected...one of the local marinas was heavily damaged. still have a few homes without power, but they are working to get it restored.

Rhiannon 03-04-2012 06:02 PM

thank goodness you are safe shadowdancer

dicksbro 03-05-2012 03:19 AM

I'll second that. Glad you're okay, ShadowDancer! Be sure to tell your weatherman to route the storms north or south of you next time. :boink:

North up into yoru area, DB? Be wary of what you wish for.

PantyFanatic 03-05-2012 10:18 AM

There not being a 'good' place for anything like that, I guess 'some place else' is where we all want it to be. ..................... kinda like a political rally.

Oldfart 03-05-2012 06:00 PM

Fair comparison.

Sometimes people are sucked in at Tornado events too.

gekkogecko 03-06-2012 11:57 AM

OF, are you saying that all tornadoes suck ?

Oldfart 03-06-2012 06:58 PM

Yes, but only some swallow.

ShadowDancer 03-23-2012 10:25 PM

Seriously...MORE tornado warnings. *sigh* Apparently, I now live in Tornado Alley. This is nuts! Someone pissed in Mother Nature's wheaties big time! Hope everyone in the area is safe.

Oldfart 03-23-2012 11:33 PM

So do we all.

PantyFanatic 03-24-2012 03:09 AM

Regardless of your view of "global warming", (don't you hate it when the dirty bastards turn science into political fodder :hair: ) the seasonal anomalies have been widespread and radical. May all our Pixies stay safe an sound, even if we don't know what it may be from any longer.

dicksbro 03-24-2012 03:39 AM

Things do seem screwed up a bit with 80F temps in Illinois in March ... :yikes:

Like PF said, hope all Pixies stay safe and sound.

Oldfart 04-04-2012 02:37 AM

Dallas tornados?

Holy flying truck-trailers Batman!
