I learned to listen to answering machine messages to the end before hanging up - I hate leaving messages on machines, so as soon as I hear a message I usually hang up. The number I've been trying for a few days now never answered, so I finally listened to the whole message to hear that the person is gone for 3 weeks. Oops.
