~Surprises~

Thirty...geez....most animals don’t have life spans that long Jim thought to himself as he sat in his office bemoaning the passing of another year. He knew he was attractive, a charmer in fact, this was confirmed by the ladies who he often found himself flirting with at work , while out shopping, or even at the kid’s school. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by his assistant at the door bringing in what appeared to be a long box. She made a wisecrack about him possibly needing her to read him the card since eyesight declines with age, and left him in his office alone. Thinking to himself yet again, he wondered if the person who sent it knew how much he hated surprises. He also loved them, secretly, so he quickly untied the ribbon and opened the box to find one single long-stemmed red rose and a note. The paper the note was written on smelled of the rose but also of something else pleasant, but at the time Jim just could not quite figure out what. The note read, “get in your car and drive to 1723 Park Ave.....no questions.” Jim’s first thought was, why would someone want him to drive further into the business district? then who? then what for? but curiosity had always been Jim’s undoing. So with out telling a soul where he was headed he grabbed his keys and headed towards the elevator to his car in the parking garage.

Jim always parked on one of the bottom decks of the garage because he was one of the first in and the first out of the garage preferring to work early hours so he could still have some daylight at the end of the day to spend time with his kids. As he got off the elevator and strode towards his car he was letting his mind wander to thoughts of what could be waiting for him at the address he was given. As he stuck his key into the lock on his car he was caught off guard by the sudden pain as he was struck in the back and pinned up against his car. He felt something pressing into his side and instinctively he knew it was a gun. Next he felt a body pressing firmly against him and then felt warm breath on his neck and ear. “Shut the fuck up! Don’t scream, just obey!” the voice hissed. At first Jim was alarmed, his fight or flight reflex had nearly kicked in but then he realized that the warning had something bizarre about it. The voice was feminine.

No sooner had he realized this when something was pulled over his head and his sight was immediately restricted. At the same time it seemed, his hand, the one that had tried to unlock his car, was jerked behind him, as a knee was once again thrust into his spine. A rope was slipped around his wrist and in the distraction cause by the pain in his back his attacker was able to wrap the other wrist with the rope as well cinching his wrists tightly together til the ropes burned, digging into his soft flesh. With out so much as another word his attacker began to push him away from the car into what he knew to be a less lit slightly more secluded part of the garage. He was frightened and yet intrigued both at once. She had turned him around several times as she led him by the ropes. Jim began to lose his sense of direction when suddenly his attacker pushed him backwards hard and his body slammed against the concrete wall that he now knew was just behind him.
