My girlfriend in art school, who loooooved to give head and swallow (cue requisite nostalgiac sigh here) made me stop eating McDonald's french fries and more Snickers...she said it "made the icky sperms taste better."
I agree on what you said about the porn machine jacking up people's perceptions. It might just be another way within hundreds of people expressing sex or a regular fetish/kink instead of this whole mega-feminist issue. That's one of the (few) things I dislike about porn, or should I say how people take it in — porn should ideally take dick-tations from real life, not the other way around.
