BTDT...swinging was more like a junior high dance than I ever would've wanted to imagine. Lots of talk, not as much action. Lots of nervous wallflowers, of which I was sometimes one. It was a lot more fun in fantasy than it ended up being (with a few exceptions) in reality for both of us, in part because it ended up being more fun for me than for him; neither of us expected that going into it. It was an interesting few months, and I'll never regret doing it. We both learned a lot, about ourselves individually and as a couple. But I've sown those particular wild oats now, and random sex with strangers doesn't hold the appeal it once did. Friendly sex with people I know and can trust? Sure. Polyamory still appeals, if only theoretically at this point in my life.
