The following poem was written in January 1944 by my grandfather. He wrote it for my grandmother while he was serving in WWII, and wanted her to know the depths of his love.

To My Love

My Dearest one, I love you more
than all this world can hold.
With all it's treasure troves of gems,
and all it's hoarded gold.
I love you more than all the stars,
pinned to the sky's soft breast.
And more than life itself, my dear,
I love you much the best.
I want to share the hours and
their laughs and tears with you,
because you are the star that shines
on every thing I do.
And so these lines are written, Dear,
that you will always know
That all my life! Until the end!
I'll always love you so.

Though I am different from you,
We were born involved in one another.

For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.

Complete surrender should not just come at moments in which one faces overwhelming odds, but in the calm when it seems one is personally in complete control of one's life.
