The Hubble has spotted the farthest possible single star discovered to date. Nicknamed "Earendel", "Dawn/Morning Star" in old English, a name which Tolkien borrowed and repurposed. The exciting thing is, the detectors on Hubble were too insensitive to split the incoming light into component wavelengths, but the James Webb can, when it becomes operational. The team that discovered Earendel has already applied (and possibly received approval) for time on the James Webb to confirm that this is indeed, a single star, as well as numerous other phenomenon about the object.
