Okay, I give up on the slang ... but at least I got a poem done for him. ...

OLD FART’S BIRTHDAY

I say there Mr. OF, it was your special day,
Another day older if you please, or at least that’s what they say.
It may however work much different as I’ve tried so hard to do …
I stopped at 39 years old and said that’d have to do.

Now most my kids have passed me and the rest are gaining fast
They’re starting to complain of aches and so I just smile and gasp.
When our daughter turned 40 (it was a while ago)
we went to where she worked, and I told a friend we know.

It’s the year she passed me, cuz I planned my life with care,
I stopped at 39 years old … a tactic I gladly share.
He was quite impressed and quickly on the store PA,
Told the folks that her YOUNGER DAD was there to share her special day. .

My daughter knew what happened … she’s very, very quick …
But the cashiers came all afternoon and wondered, “What the heck?”
All that’s gone and done with, but I’m still at 39
and OF if I was you, I try this trick of mine

It doesn’t cost a blooming cent and it’s fun to talk about it,
Problem is your friends get older while you’re still young and fit.
I know this poem didn’t use Aussie slang … I really struggled with it,
But at least you got your birthday poem and some sage advice went with it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND

(and tell your wonderful wife hello, too, from my Mrs. and I. )
