Unhappy Transitions — Dr. Robert Furchgott

Farewell Robert, we barely knew thee.

Robert Furchgott, who shared a Nobel prize in 1998 for his work which showed that nitric oxide played an important role in the cardiovascular system, died in Seattle Washington on Tuesday. He was 92.

The discovery that NO could help enlarge blood vessels was a factor in the development of Viagra.
