Vertigo

Hi! After a couple of weeks of off and on "weirdness", I finally went to the doc. Been getting dizzy off and on over that time. He prescribed Meclazine (sp?). Does anyone have experience with this particular med? He says that it is probably from an inner ear problem. No antibiotics for an infection or anything. Kind of a pseudo-zombie, here, and I hate it. Lots to get done and can't do much of it. Not used to being down time like this. If anyone has info or has gone through this, could you please post in here? Thank you.

Meclazine is used in hydrochlorate form, as an anti-emetic: it's one of the various antihistamines on the market, widely used as preventative against dizzyness, motion sickness, those sorts of things. Side effects are the usual drousyness associated with antihistamines, but YMMV, of course. It is also supposedly tasteless, which to my personal experience is a vast improvement over the previously-widely used Drammamine.

I found a web site with more info here: http://www.drugs.com/pro/meclizine.html

I've taken it before, I'd rather be sea sick than feel how drowsy this medicine made me. I know alot of people that when they take it, they are so groggy they are pretty useless. I don't think the medicine is a solution to anything if of itself it just treats symptoms. So hopefully he is looking in to what's causing the Vertigo instead of just treating the symptoms. or I could be wrong a doctor I am not
