Ok first of all you need to make sure that her cell will accept text messages. Then yes you do need to put the international code before the number.

depending on your friend's carrier, you might be able to start the text from the carrier's website and put in your reply to number. Don't know if this would help but, thought I would offer.

1 is the international code for the US, so if you have an 11 digit number that should be all you need. When I use to call back to the states when I was living in South Korea I distinctly remember only having to dial the 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx number.

Firstly, there should be a number which tells your provider you want international connection, in OZ 0011.

Then you have the international code, USA is 1, OZ is 61.

then area code and phone number.

For me to call Lil, I would dial 0011 1 727 LIL FONE

I believe you simply dial

011 plus the 11 digit number
no sorry that's for me to call the U.K.
to call form the U.K.
you dial

001 then then 11 digit number

I think

Doesn't it tell you how in the first pages of your local phone directory?
Ours has the codes and numbers for each country in the first few pages of the white pages
