using reference to a country song to come up with these....sorry
You hoe'd a garden, not a street corner
Coke came in a bottle and was best out of a glass bottle with a straw, not off of a glass mirror with a piece of paper rolled up like a straw.
If your crack came out of your pants cops wouldn't arrest you, they'd just ask you to please pull up your pants. Speaking of pants, boys use to wear belts and they DIDN'T want their underwear to be showing.
A screw was a handy thing for holding up walls, not against walls (although a screw against a wall now isn't exactly a BAD thing, just different).
You'd blow out the candles on a birthday cake, or blow your hair dry, or the wind would blow the folding chairs over on the front porch. How did it come to be called getting blown anyway, its totally the opposite of blowing. If you actually blew, it would probably be painful or at the least, not pleasurable.
"down with" something use to mean you'd become ill...i.e. "She came 'down with' pneumonia.", "I think I'm coming "down with" the flu." People in the old days would stick a thermometer in your ass and force feed you chicken soup for saying "I'm down wid' dat"
Kids these days.....
Lixy moment...forgive me.
