Is it possible? Ok, so the move "The Net" was quite pitiful, but the question it raised does seem to resonate. With seemingly all our information being stored on computers, do you think it's possible for someone to steal your identity and perhaps take over your life? Are you worried at all? Or do you thinks it's just paranoia?

I'm not worried but i do think that some organisation is keeping tracks on us!! Theres probably a file somewhere, with everything there is to know about me, hidden away! Your always reading about someone who has been caught doing something they shouldnt over the net! How do they catch them if no-one is watching our e-mails and stuff!!

ok...emails are intercepted by certain government security organisations all the time....but could say a hacker get all your details?

there are programs out and about where if someone sends it you they could completly take over your pc.....or they could just watch what you are doing!! But obviously having a good firewall etc.. is going to stop most people.

I am not sure that there is anyone out there that wants to be me so I think my identity is safe This is not new, the idea of "big brother" watching us! It is just now more technologically possible. I was involved in a millitary situation and they flat out told me that they would watch me, tap my phones, check my mail, what ever they deemed necessary. So I guess I have always just felt that it was a small price to pay for all the advancements we have gained. I wonder if the poor schmuck who traces me enjoyed the conversation I had last night

In the USA stealing a persons Social Security Number is almost like stealing identity. You can get a credit card or loan in there name, you also need a SSN to get your uilities(gas, light) turned on. So with someones SSN you have inefect stolen thier inentity.
