Transitions: David Halberstam

David Halberstam, who won a Pulitzer prize for his Vietnam war book The Best and the Brightest as well as many sports books like Playing for Keeps - about Michael Jordan, the 1949 Boston Red Sox - New York Yankees pennant race Summer of '49 and recently The Education of a Coach about Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belichick, in 2005.

Halberstam was the passenger in a car that was involved in a fatal car crash this past week. He was 73. Halberstam was in San Francisco working on a book The Game chronicling the famous 1958 NFL Championship game between the Baltimore Colts and New York Giants. He was on his way to intervew NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback, Y.A. Tittle for the book, when the accident occured. Halberstam was pronounced dead on the scene.

Halberstam was one of the most respected authors of the recent years, and his writing and style will be missed.

Haven't read much of his work but I do know that he was very well respected. Terrible for it to end that way for him.

Confucius say, "He who masturbate into cash register come into money."

An optimist looks at the glass and says it's half full. A pessimist looks at the glass and says it's half empty. A Cubs fan looks at the glass and says, "When's it gonna spill?"
