*bows his head in a moment of silence* May he rest in peace...he lived a long life filled with great purpose, while I am not a religious man, I respected him greatly. That he was the first non-Italian in almost five centuries to achieve that holy post is ground breaking as it is...but I digress. *bows his head once more and sends a silent prayer to the heavens*

May he finally rest in peace
It was so sad to keep seeing an obviously ill man being propped up like a corpse for his public appearances

I was fortunate to be able to attend a Mass at which he was the principal celebrant some years back. I was not able to see him up close, but it's still a memory I'll cherish the rest of my life.
He was a wonderful man, both as a man of God and as a human being. He did so much to bring reconcilliation between the Church and other religions. He also had much to do with the fall of Communism.
May he Rest In Peace.

Although I am not a Catholic, I could respect him greatly. The world truely mourns his passing. Know comfort, he is with God and happy.

He was an amazing person, even to the point of being at his window waving, blessing and trying (unsuccessfully) to speak to the Easter crowds at St. Peters. As you've all said, "God bless me and may he now receive his eternal reward."

I was VERY suprised yesterday!I was listening,to a Talk Show(radio)that is
only on Sat. mornings.Everyone was calling in about the Pope.Four different
people said that he was to linient with the priests, over the molesting of boys,
scandel. The thing that suprised me the most was that ALL of the complainers
were Men.For some reason,I would have expected, that if anyone complained,
it would have been women.SUPRISE,SUPRISE! Irish

I was surprised to learn that he was an actor as a young man. Even saw pictures of him in a stage performance...but don't know which one. I've always been curious to know what leads a person to their destiny, and where they began the journey. I learned some things about John Paul that were surprising, yet practical, to lead him to his final destination.
I am not religious...but I do recognize a good man when I see one...
For his selfless sacrifice and suffering...R.I.P. John Paul!
