The Ring

Sorry Sharni...this is not about LOTR. LOL

Actually, this is more of an endorsement than a need for advice....

I wanted to make sure that every girl who uses birth control knew about the ring (called NuvaRing). It is a contraceptive device that releases estrogen -- similar to the pill -- but at much lower levels. You insert a ring into your vagina for 3 weeks (leave it in all the time) and then remove it for a week during your period. Throw that one away and insert another one at the end of the 7 days "off."

I've been on this thing for 2 months now and it is WONDERFUL. No remembering to take the pill, none of the side effects I used to get with the pill (thanks to a lower estrogen dose) and......this is the best part....it is rated as MUCH more effective than pills, condoms, foam, or anything else in preventing pregnancy.

I've never had the thing slip out....and while Mr. Osuche says he can feel the ring if we have manual sex, he cannot feel it during oral or vaginal sex.

It's really cool and very easy to use...and I thought someone else might be interested in giving it a try!

Here's their website:

And a good summary:

I considered this as an option... but went with a pill instead and am pleased as punch to be on Seasonale. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying it though...my dr had recommended it but I hadn't heard any "testimonials" previously! Thanks!

Have to say, absolutely THRILLED with Nuvaring.... it does have a negative side though....can cause recurring yeast infections, so taking acidophilus pills is a good idea. AND....it causes periods to get shorter and lighter over time
