Angry Why, sluts, slags, whores and bitches??

I have noticed, particularly among the US created web sites, an obsession with describing the ladies featured in the pics as; whores, sluts, slags etc etc, usually they are; housewives, cheerleaders, teens, girlnextdoor, and so on.

I am just wondering why there is a need to describe the ladies in such a derogatory way. After all it's not as though they are doing something WE, as porno/sex
enthusiasts can disapprove of. In fact, we ought to be glad that there are enough ladies around who are capable feeling good enough about themselves, cut through these insults, and take part in what should be harmless fun.

I urge you to boycott sites that use this kind of language.

Your comments please.

Expose--I think that you will find that the people that refer to
women that way have very low self-esteem.Either that or they
think so far back, that they think all women should be barefoot&
pregnant!I have been in the biker culture for over 40yrs. and I
can tell you that they don't think that way.Intelligent people value
individuals for their outlook and judge them that way.I have two
daughters and have had the same wife for 36yrs.The downgrading of females used to really bother me;especially in
sports ;as my daughters were growing up.I then considered the
source. Irish

Maybe we are both more sensitive to this because we are both fathers of daughters.

But it occurs to me that website owners do it for effect, and commercial gain, nothing wrong with that. But do they truly believe they are making better contact with their audience?

Here's a twist...

Here's a theory - not sure if I totally believe it, but it does make some "sense" - as to why web sites use this approach.

A lot of guys are frustrated (good pun I might add) by women who won't at least acknowledge their own sexuality and desires. Guys get "dumped on" because they're "obsessed" while many (if not most) women act like it's the last thing they're interested in.

So it may be miss-directed (and it's certainly connotative in a negative way), but these labels are a sort of announcement: "Here are women who admit they love sex!"

And I think a lot of guys "overlook" the labels in search of that.

It fits in with that popular fantasy... the librarian or business woman who looks so proper, but when you bed her she becomes an... animal. (Substitute any of those labels for "animal." )

I'm not saying I support the use of the language, BTW.

Cool Reading too deeply

Wally

Well thought out but I'll differ.

To treat a woman callously, without regard for her rights,
needs and wishes requires a degree of distancing, almost
de-humanising.

Using labels like that allows the emotionally selfish to
address their wants and needs without giving a shit
about the other.

Just my take on it.

Although; I am a great lover of fantasy;my erotic mood gets
completly ruined, when a person tells the woman that is perform-
ing; whatever;act on him,to do anything that is degrading to her.
It is completly unrealistic and I don't know or want to know any-
one who would treat someone like that.I don't even know any
women who would allow themselves to be trested, like that and
I know some women that would be considered fairly loose. I
always thought that sex was supposed to be enjoyed by both
partys!I don't enjoy myself unless the other person is enjoying
also.Otherwise it is a very selfish and unrewarding act! Irish

my opinion

how many hits do you think a site would get if it advertised the nice girl next door, Mary Poppins, etc?
it's how they word the ads that get people to visit so if it takes calling women degrading things then that's what is done.

Perhaps the words stem from the notion (for some) that ladies who enjoy truly enjoy sex, in all its variations, are somewhat deviant/dirty/nauty. It's the madanna/whore syndrome. Hence the use of these words at websites gives the impression that something other-than-the-ordinary is contained within.

I woudn't go so far and say that men who refer to women in these terms suffer from a lack of self-esteem. In most cultures, men are simply taught that women who enjoy sex and perhaps have their more than their fair share of partners are sluts and asking to be used. Note that, for men, the contraverse isn't true.

It also depends on context. Some people enjoy using such terms as part of their sex play and derive great pleasure from it...Just my 2 cents.
