>< Theme Song ><

Eros' song thread got me thinking that we have not asked about people's theme songs in quite a while....

What song do you think of as your personal theme song and why does that song have a specific connection to you???

Hi Lilith, great idea!
Everything that exists in time has a rhythm and a pattern. What is true for our own bodies is true almost everywhere we look. We are embedded within a rhythmical universe. Everywhere we see rhythm, patterns moving through time. It is there in the cycles of the seasons, in the migration of the birds and animals, the rising and setting of the sun, in the fruiting and withering of plants, and in the birth, maturation and death of ourselves. Rhythm is at the very center of our lives. Music trancsends all. Love, language barriers, race, religon, even politics. (can anyone tell i was a music major? ).

When i saw the subject i knew right away what my theme song would be...

Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
We were born before the wind
Also younger than the sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic
Hark, now hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic

And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home
And when the fog horn blows I want to hear it
I don't have to fear it

And I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And magnificently we will flow into the mystic

When that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it
I don't have to fear it

And I want to rock your gypsy soul
Just like way back in the days of old
And together we will flow into the mystic
Come on girl...

Lil,

What's my mood of the moment?

If I'm feeling detached, "A Whiter Shade of Pale"

If I'm feeling mellow, "Summertime" by Louis and Ella

If I'm feeling righteous, "Too many Saviours" by Richard Harris,

If I'm romantic, "Moonlight Sonata"

If I'm hopeful, "Magical Mystery Tour" by Lilith.

Birdhouse in your Soul ~ They might be Giants - it's just a goofy, fun song that I like to listen to before work. A boyfriend from 10 years ago introduced me to it.

I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I have a secret to tell
From my electrical well
It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells
So the room must listen to me
Filibuster vigilantly
My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e
My story's infinite
Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I'm your only friend
I'm not your only friend
But I'm a little glowing friend
But really I'm not actually your friend
But I am

There's a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I'd be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

(and while you're at it
Keep the nightlight on inside the
Birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you're at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you're at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it

As OF stated, it depends on the mood, but the mood I like to be in is...

Smack Dab In The Middle- Ray Charles 1964

Well, pick me a town in any clime
Where people like a rockin' time
Stay awake both day and night
And everybody's feeling good and right
Then throw me
smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
smack dab in the middle
Well, let me rock and roll to satisfy my soul

I want ten cadillacs and a diamond mill
Ten suits of clothes all dressed to kill
Ten room house and-a some barbecue
And-a fifty chicks none over twenty-two
Then throw me
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Well, let me rock and roll to satisfy my soul

I want a lotta bread and gangs of meat
Oodles of butter and something sweet
Gallons of coffee to wash it down
And bi-carbonated soda by the pound
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Well, let me rock and roll to satisfy my soul

Well, i want a big jazz band, a lotta dancing girls
A street that's paved with natural pearl
Bring me a wagonload of bonds and stocks
And then open up the doors to fort knox
Then throw me
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Smack dab in the middle
Well, let me rock and roll to satisfy my soul

riiiiight!... When I hit the lottery.
