I have never been to China. The closest I have been to Northern China was Kazakhstan. I did go to Ho Chi Minh city. It was awesome! I had the best time there! At 185cm and about 105Kg I sure did get a lot of stares :)

Have a great trip. China is one place on my list of countries to visit. Let us know all about it.
