I tend to disagree with you mate. The soldiers have no choice, they were posted there and they have to follow orders as they swore an oath to obey orders when they signed up. I was posted to Vietnam but a change of goverment in Australia at the time meant that I did not have to go. i thought personally that it was a shambles and we should not be there but I was ready to go because I was a serviceman and it was my duty. Those prisoners were doing their sentence and I am sure that if any had medical problems then they would have been placed where their health was assured. |
That's my point Grumble, they weren't conscripted, they signed up. And when you sign up, you give your word that you're prepared to go wherever the government decides you should be fighting. Hardly the same as having your birthdate drawn out - and even then you could be a CO.

I'm sure the inmates do have it better than the soldiers. The soldiers, however, signed up to get shot at. I think if you need to be keeping people at close to 140 degrees to keep them from re-offending there is something seriously fucked with the judicial system. "Humane" doesn't mean free cable. |
Your entitled to your opinion hun
But for me i see absolutely no problem with it....were some of these criminals humane to their victims...i think not But again that is my opinion |
I'm sure some weren't humane. Some are probably there for being caught with a dimebag. Some are probably awaiting trials that will determine whether or not they are in fact criminals. Personally I think that if treating people inhumanely is punishable under criminal law then it is rather perverse that those enforcing those laws are permitted to be inhumane in administering punishment.
Again, only my opinion. |
If you go back and read my original statement...i said convicted criminals.....not those awaiting trial
And i dont particulary care wether they snatched a purse or chopped their granny into a million pieces.....what they did was a crime and as a consequence have to live with whatever punishment is given Sometimes ya gotta be cruel to be kind.....i'd much rather deter them than hurt them.....but it goes back to the original...if ya do the crime do the time If ppl know what to expect before they do the crime....then they go and do it anyway...well they can bloodywell live with it |
Isn't there a ban in the USA on cruel and unusual punishment?
Sorry, I forgot the military had revoked that one. |
If they keep doing it it won't be unusual anymore :)

I have given MY opinion! As in politics, nothing gets solved by going back & forth!I am starting to wonder about posting anything! It seems as tho everything starts a debate. In MY opinion, the world is so screwed up,because everyone is so soft!

Is that the same Joe Arpino that was given him moment of "fame" on Penn and Teller's BULL SHIT? If so,what a fucking jerk...Does anybody realize that most of those "hardend criminals" are there because of Marijuana possession? We have more that enough of the "get tough on crime" bunch.Where are the get sensible on crime people?

I think it's just too big of an issue to offer one opinion. I think convicted criminals should have harsh punishments. But this is only a county jail, not a prison.
However before I answered on here I looked it up, for this exact place, to see what I could find. I found this: Tent City |
