You mentioned wubba sounds and ouchies.

If you have fluid behind the eardrum, it seems a really good idea to see a doctor sooner, rather than later.

wyndhy 11-03-2006 11:32 AM

no more ouchies...well, mostly, and the wubbas are getting less wubby.

wyndhy 11-04-2006 07:54 PM

my right ear's getting itchy - not good. i may have to see a doctor after all. stupid eustachian tubes.

and an update on my brakes...all lines totally rusted out. hubby couldn't fix without a lift and all we've got is a jack. total damage: 1,100 bucks.

ah, well, them's the brakes. (hehe, couldn't resist)

Oldfart 11-05-2006 04:13 AM

So long as they don't pad the bill.

OMFG :yikes:
It sounds like they sure put the clamps to you. Help me out here. There aren't that many components to a standard brake system and unless they replaced all of them along with the lines, they're fucking with you.
The small steel tubes, any fittings and maybe short hoses at the ends, shouldn't cost over $50 total.
All of the lines are surface mounted along the frame and don't require a lot of other disassembly to get at, like so many other things on a car. If this was done on a rack, even by a shade-tree mechanic, it shouldn't take more than a day. (I can't envision more than 4-5 hours having to fight every fitting) Unless they are getting $150-$200/hour in your area, they stuck the master cylinder to you.
Either you have a very reasonable chance of going back for some answers or I should be packing some tools and taking even my decrepit old ass down there.
:doorpeek:

Anybody else find that price to be absolutely unreal by 3-4 times?

PF,

New master cylinder, 4 slaves, lines and a deposit on a condo?

Sounds about right to me.

wyndhy, don't tell PF about your itch in your r ear.

PantyFanatic 11-06-2006 08:54 PM

I see. The mechanic holds the wrench and the 4 slaves turns the car. I guess that price would be about right in that case. ;)

Oldfart 11-07-2006 05:11 AM

No, the mechanic holds the wench and 4 slaves fix the car.
