In DickBro's case, in order to finish the treatments, he would have to finish half teh treatments. And in order to finish the remining half, then at least half of those: and so on. He therefore seemingly cannot finish the treatments at all.

It is of course, a mathematical fallacy, but I'll leave the rest to y'all to puzzle out.

Right around Thanksgiving will be my last treatment. Can't say I'll miss it although it hasn't been all that bad for me. I know I've been very lucky!

gekkogecko 10-07-2009 09:47 AM

Miss what? The cancer? The treatment? Thanksgiving?

((((((DB))))))) this is the first time I've seen this thread of yours. I really need a :spank: for not paying closer attention to what is going on around here. You are the most awesome person and I just know you are going to beat this horrible cancer and have the best Thanksgiving ever!! :kisser:

Something to really give thanks for!!!!

dicksbro 10-16-2009 04:25 AM

You bet! I'm very greatful and very content. No worries. The chemo is going great and the love and support are truly overwhelming. Means a lot. Most of my attention is focused now on others who are facing real struggles in their lives and so I spend part of each day devoted to prayer for them. I pray God will be as good and generous to them as He has been for me. That includes several Pixies; several friends; and folks I know in our area. Prayer list is long making it especially important to keep up the hopes.

Well, have some more support from me, then.

mayhem1978 10-24-2009 01:03 PM

this is Lizz. Much love to you and Mrs.DB! :loveshowe:

dicksbro 11-11-2009 06:23 PM

Eleven down and one to go ... 11/25th the day before Thanksgiving, I'll have my last chemo treatment. Other than maybe a bit more fatigue than earlier, still very few side effects. Told the doc I was probably just reverting to normal. :)

Scarecrow 11-11-2009 09:33 PM

DB, Normal is just a few miles down the road.

Hoping the last treatment goes as good as the rest.

imaginewithme 11-11-2009 10:28 PM

Hi DB!
What a great thread started Lilith! I'm so glad to read that you're doing well. I was just going thru some "get well" cards I had on a shelf from this summer and found one from you and your Mrs. and I started crying reading it. Wonderful prayers sent to me and here you are with your own things going on! You're an amazing person and it's so great to hear you're doing well.
Needless to say, I put your card back up on my shelf and smiled knowing your prayers for me worked! Thank you!

GreenChef 11-12-2009 12:52 AM

Hello there mon ami
I've been mostly away for some time now...
I'll try to be around more
Glad to hear things are going well
sounds like you are faring well
Best of luck with the Last one

Take care of you

dicksbro 11-12-2009 04:22 AM

Thank you Scarecrow, IWM and Green Chef. Your good wishes and prayers mean the world to me. Scarecrow, you and the Mrs. have been good friends, and we truly value that friendship. Green Chef, it's so good to see you back. A family like Pixies is always waiting with open arms for it's people to come home. And, praise God that your treatments went well, too, IWM! You, your husband and that beautiful little girl are always in our thoughts!

You're definatley one of a kind. Thank you for thinking of us, it was definately a very rough ~and scary~few months and like I said, your prayers worked so know that all of ours, for you, will work too! I still have the blanket Mrs. DB made for my daughter when she was born and all the cards you send.

Thank you for being such a wonderfully, caring friend!

I'd like to echo those sentiments, IWM. My last treatment was September 23rd, but the after-effects continued to worsen for 2-3 weeks subsequent to that. The good wishes, cards and St. Peregrine medallion DB and Mrs DB sent me all helped me stay strong, and I'm sure the prayers were at least equally effective!

Now I'm almost back to (what passes for!!) normal, though I still tire fairly easily. e.g., I went into work yesterday to arrange a "phased return" early next year..... slept through to after 11 this morning, and can't talk now either!! (Relief to Herself, I'm sure!!)

DB - congrats on reaching treatment's end.. and enjoy Thanksgiving when it comes!!

Define "normal".

ShadowDancer 11-14-2009 01:36 PM

(((((((((((DB))))))))))) hugs to you just because Dicksbro.

dicksbro 11-15-2009 04:02 AM

GG: Normal is when the left and right feet get placed in the left and right shoes respectively, and when you wake up, the green is at your feet and the blue is up above. :)

SD: Thanks! Hugs back 'atcha! It's going to be a great holiday season, I can feel it in my bones. :)

Teddy Bear 07-15-2010 10:38 PM

(((((DB)))))

Its been awhile and I thought you could use a hug.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your family member.
Hope all is continuing to go well with your health.

wyndhy 07-16-2010 11:35 AM

dicksbro 07-20-2010 05:36 AM

Thank you, Teddy Bear and wyndhy. I'm doing great. Feel good and recent checks show no signs of any cancer. Still, we can all use hugs and so yours is appreciated TB and your good wishes wyndhy are a real blessing. Thanks again to both of you!

gekkogecko 07-20-2010 11:53 AM

Yay for cancer-free.

I'm fine, my friend, with all thanks to the prayers emanating from your little corner of Illinois!

My prayers are for all our Pixie friends, especially those fighting this horrible disease.

It IS beatable, as DB and I have shown (to name but two of us!!) so you all can too!

Yay us!!

Well, it's been a bit over two years since they found that cancer and things seem to still be going well. Go in this morning for a follow-up colonoscopy. Not fun, but helps assure nothing is sneaking back up on me. Had a CT Scan a week ago and it came back clear. Looks like between everyone's prayers and the help of the man upstairs ... things are going good. Thanks again to everyone.

DM, how's it going with you. You are still in our prayers everyday!

dicksbro 06-15-2011 02:51 PM

Got home around 1PM our time. Colonoscopy went well with everything checking out okay. Doc said that the next colonoscopy would be scheduled for five years.

wyndhy 06-15-2011 02:56 PM

awesome!!!

Lilith 06-15-2011 03:12 PM

Great news!

rabbit 06-15-2011 08:30 PM

Wonderful news. Congrats DB!

Rhiannon 06-15-2011 09:56 PM

awesome news dicksbro

dicksbro 06-16-2011 07:02 AM

Thanks, much, people. I've been very lucky ... a great wife and great friends like you giving me support. Again, thank you!

sodaklostsoul 06-16-2011 04:47 PM

Awsome!!!

dicksbro 12-22-2011 02:36 AM

Good news. My cardiologist had me do a stress test (just a follow-up to be sure all was okay) and the results were ... well ... great.

He wanted me to walk for 5 minutes and get my heart rate up to 129.

I walked for about eight minutes and worked the heart rate up to more than 150.

He was delighted. Said everything looks good, sounds good, and no sign of any emerging problem.

Got just about the same news from my cancer doctor. Between a CT Scan, colonoscopy (sp) and blood tests ... everything looks clean and good.

Twill be a Merry Christmas, that's for sure.

jseal 12-22-2011 09:40 AM

That's great! Good for you! Yes, I suspect that is a bit of early Christmas Cheer! :)

Lilith 12-22-2011 09:46 AM

Superb!

jennaflower 12-22-2011 01:34 PM

Gosh.. I was away during the initial scare... So glad you bumped this.. And so happy you are winning the battle!!
