I'm dying to know what bands you're listening to! |
As far as when Canada gained it's independance from the UK, it was July 1, 1867 (and it was done with out a war).
|
Oh, and to all the Candians toasting with a Coors Light,, please remeber that is an American beer.
|
Most Canucks I know toast with Canadian beer - Molson, Labatt . . . going back to an earlier post here, most Americans get shit canned drinking our beer :)
Why is it Canadian beer has a stronger alcoholic content than our southern neighbours? |
I have to think about that one:confused: …… Pass me another Moosehead!:D
..... our antifreeze level doesn’t have to be as low maybe? |
A few more things I've remembered:
The 401 highway running from Windsor to I'm not sure how far it goes...is one wicked highway!! Gotta be careful on that one...so many accidents and multi-vehicle ones at that! And PLEASE the speed limit is in kilometers per hour NOT miles!!! Don't try to drive at 100 mph!! It's 100 KPH roughly somewhere between 60-70 mph. Two excellent comedy Television shows....Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour has 22 minutes!! Excellent shows...and gives us Yanks a peek into how we're perceived by our neighbors to the North. I know there must be more, but those are two that I'm most familiar with. I love Red Rose brand tea and I can't find it here in Missouri!! Wahhhhh!!!! Curling clubs are as common in the parts of Ontario that I've been in as bowling alleys are here in the States. You don't wipe your mouth with a napkin, you use a serviette (sp?). And I love the LaBatts commercials!! Especially the Bear..... |
Oh boy, that figures!
Quote:
Is you cash-conversation any better, so you can calculate your bail? Try 62.1371 Miles/hour,….. or ABOUT 5/8,….. or ROUGHLY ˝ plus another 10%. 70 Miles/hour would be 112.654 Kilometers/hour and over the 10% leeway that even Sharni’s sweetest Mounty would allow. LMFAO- soory SS,;) just couldn’t resist.:D |
PICKY PICKY PICKY!!!!!!
Geezzz! Some people are so mathmatically anal-rententive!!! ROFLMFAO!!!! |
Quote:
Well I do declare SS......we use "cloth" napkins when we are out dining and having company and paper serviettes for any other old time.......don't tell a soul but paper towels worked well with my kids! :) AND Red Rose Tea is the best and "sold only in Canada?" Pity!!! :) I would be more than happy to send you off a box if you so desire SS..... |
Quote:
I used to be able to get it in Detroit in all major grocery stores. Love the litle statues that come in the boxes... Thanks so much for the offer, but will try to pick some up when I'm home in a few weeks. :) |
Moosehead...a great beer, & a new experience for the moose...
|
I recently visited Canada for the first time during my honeymoon. This is what I leanred:
It isn't cold, it's freezing. I now know the difference. Canadian INS are unbeleivaby entertained by a suitcase full of various sex toys. They are not so entertained by pocket knifes. The beer ISN'T as strong as everyone says, but it is good. Canada doesn't have a one dollar bill, but there is a coin. $1US = $2CAN. :o) All and all, I thought it to be a wonderful place. |
Nickleback and Theory of Deadman are the bands there Steph :D
|

Well it is the coldest winter on record for years and so I have to agree it is f*cking freezing :) Beer is as strong as you like it to be. We have a wide range of alcohol content ranging to 12 percent (I believe) We dont have dollar bills nor do we have 2 dollar bills and I just exchanged Canadian currency into American today for a trip I am taking and your dollar is worth about 46 percent more than the Canadian dollar.........lol but then what do you expect when we call our dollars "loonies";) AND glad you liked it here in spite of the cold!!!! |
I was cleaning out some old e-mail and found this. Thought it was good for a few chuckles...
So, what do Canadians have to be proud of? 1. Smarties 2. Crispy Crunch & Coffee Crisp 3. The size of our footballs fields and one less Down 4. Lacrosse is Canadian 5. Hockey is Canadian 6. Basketball is Canadian 7. Mr. Dress-up kicks Mr. Rogers butt 8. Tim Hortons kicks Dunkin' Donuts butt 9. Canada has the largest French population that never surrendered to Germany. 10. We have the largest English population that never ever surrendered or withdrew during any war to anyone, anywhere. 11. Our civil war was a bar fight that lasted a little over an hour. 12. We knew plaid was cool way before Seattle caught on. 13. We still know what to do with all the parts of a buffalo. 14. We invented ski-doos, jet-skis, velcro, zippers, insulin, penicillin, zambonis, the telephone and short wave radios that save countless lives each year. 15. We ALL have frozen our tongues to something metal and lived to tell about it. BUT MOST IMPORTANT! 16. ....the handles on our beer cases are big enough to fit your hands with mitts on. OOOOoohhhhh Canada!! Oh yeah, and our elections only take one day. ===== **I am not responsible for any inaccuracies. I'm merely passing it along...I didn't write it. |
Canadian
Hey Bibi,
Nice to see a fellow Canuck out there clearing up the myths! C |

Some of them facts aren't true *L* See an earlier post in this thread :D |

I did delete some things I knew weren't true...but the rest I just left and included my little 'disclaimer'. Oh well......... |
Americans don't have Smarties, Coffee Crisp or other chocolate bars like that?!?! You guys might have better variety in your Girl Guide cookies but I looooooooooooove Coffee Crisps! :)
|
Did you know........Ottawa is the tulip capital of Canada?
Tulip bulbs are presented every year to Ottawa by the Royal Family of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix was born in Ottawa during WW2. So she would not be born a Canadian citizen the wing of the hospital in which she was born was deemed diplomatically to be part of the Netherlands (ala peanut butter sandwiches I guess LOL) thus she was born a Dutch citizen!!! In thanks, thousands of tulip bulbs were presented to the city and subsequently each year since........ |
I'm feeling Canucklike after all these beers & loving Skipper's music choices as always
|
My Godchildren live in Canada and that's the main reason I love it there, I know it's supose to be beautiful there, cold weather most of the time, lots of sex shops.....
and the three best kids I know and love! |
B.C. is gorgeous! (Only part of Canada I've been to)
Red Green is a model for all I do in life! :p Steph, Bibi and other Pixie's live there, so it just HAS to be awesome. Still dying to see Toronto, Steph...got a couch I can crash on? (And, if not, that's ok. I don't mind sleeping with you.) :D Canadian Tuxedo = flannel shirt and jeans The band "Great Big Sea" is one of my favorites |

Thanks Darogle! :) LOL Darogle....Toronto rocks! You better take a month to see everything. Then venture along the highway to Hamilton where I live and see the wonders waiting for you in the Royal Botanical Gardens, the tastes and smells at the Farmer's Market.....then you venture down the Queen Elizabeth Highway towards Niagra Falls and stop at the many wineries for the great bouquets harvested from our vineyards. That could take a week or two! Then half hour away is the Falls and all the wonders that await including a wonderful casino that has great stage shows.....hmmm.......anyone want to go play a game of craps, blackjack, the slots? Bye!!!!! :) BTW....don't forget you have to have a nice wool scarf to go with the tux! :jester: |

Hey PF....Steve Smith's aka Red Green's new show is going to start soon!
(pretty sad that a thread about Canada ends up being about Red and the gang) LOL :) |
Ok...this just in!
Ontario is the first province to BAN pitt bulls! That is if the legislation passes. Anybody have any thoughts on this tidbit? |
We're coming to Canada in May and I can't wait!!!!
I love the things you list on here to teach us....very interesting! |
First off, this thread is far from ended. We Americans need to know a lot more about our neighbors. We are just both lucky that my Guru (Red ) has seen fit to accept one more noble deed. :D
NOW!…….. I have a number of thoughts about the banning of Pitt Bulls. :madfire: It is very much too bad the true source for the dog having been breed into a vicious menace can not be the focus of the banning. The repulsive people that have and still do support and participate in dog fighting should be incarcerated and themselves bred solely to produce dog food until the specie was bred back to an acceptable temperament. This being unlikely to happen, the temporary fix of banning the “mashers” will work until the dobbie type “slashers” are refined enough for the use. Sad to say this has happened before. :bang: |
Pit bulls are banned in my city....as well it should be...damn horrible dogs (my opinion only)
|
I had one... raised him from a puppy, was a gift. He was dumb as dirt and sweet as can be. Not a mean bone in his body. He liked to chase cows but he never touched one. I can even remember him licking this little kitten on the farm/commune I was living at.
|
A friend sent this to me....
I thought it was funny! Welcome to Ontario......lol *This is not a political nor a personal anything* |
