Today I took some time to re-read some of the threads of PAGANs past. I wanted to see if postings reflected my enthusiasm to meet and spend time with fellow Pixies. I have to say the real enjoyment and surprising bond I felt seems to have not been only mine.
We have many active and long-time members in the western U.S. area where PAGAN-10 is going to be held. I can honestly say if you don't give more than passing thought to getting together with people you have come to know so sincerely on this forum, you will be passing a unique experience in life.

Vegas itself is unique in that you have the option of the extremes of the glitz and high end life to the MANY interests and attractions that hundreds of thousands residents enjoy every day without involvement in the city's industry. And I can tell you Pixies know how to do things on the cheap. :2cents: LOL

If you have given the slightest consideration to possible attending, I recommend you give it some more and try to grasp the good time I read in these threads.

"On the cheap" is tough in Vegas...although it gets less expensive if one stays in hotels and restaurants off of the main strip.

People watching and conversation is, of course, always free.

The Mr. and I went to Vegas for the first time when we were still both teaching, and (this being AZ) mostly broke. We found all kinds of stuff to do, amazingly. Also, there are some links up-thread for some free/cheap activities, as well.

Looks like Mrs King will be having Knee surgery in May, so we will not be going to far from home this year. Have fun in Vegas.

Having knees helps in so many things.

Let her know we'll be sending our prayers her way. Maybe we can still find a chance to get together for at least lunch. (Let us know when the surgery is and when you guys might be up for lunch)

Mrs Coaster had her left knee replaced 5 weeks ago! And she doing GREAT! (Right knee on tap for Nov) Make sure Mrs King does all her stretches and exercises and she'll be fine and kicking your butt! :D

We got together with other Pixies at Niagara Falls; Peoria; Nashville and Holland, MI and each trip gave us special memories of some very terrific people.

I'm going to research nearby restaurants, and find options in several price ranges, and then we can see what's what, unless anyone has any ideas already? The restaurants at Trump are poolside casual or seemingly very expensive for food that sort of scares me, from the pix. :p Or we can order up room service to our suite.

Also, I noticed while looking at the map that the Trump is very close to The Erotic Heritage Museum. The admission fee is a somewhat pricey $15 (though I have found a 2-fer coupon that I can make copies of), but it seems like an apropos field trip for Pixies. Anyone interested?

This is the time to get serious for all Pixies that really would like to meet the family and have a great time. As AZ has said before, there are many things besides gambling and high ticket nightclub shows (don't tell Vegas I said this) that we can do for little to nothing. Just walking around the old downtown are is a TOTALLY different flavor of Las Vegas than the new glitz on the strip. There are still a few of the old places like the Four Queens, the Fremont and the Golden Nugget left. Besides some of the dog&pony attraction that are unique and cheap, you'll be with people you have come to know for a long time and most likely doing what we spend most of our time doing, …. visiting. :grope:
I can promise anybody that makes the trip will have an experience you'll remember and enjoy for a long time. (even if Lilith picks on you like she does me )

Anybody interested in going to the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show at the Mirage on Thursday or Friday night? I'm planning to order tickets this week, and if anyone else wants to go, let me know, and we can work it out to order them so we can sit together.

I have not gotten tix yet because they were very expensive and I'm still waiting to see if Most Honorable Son #1 is going with us. If my family attends the Criss Angel Show it would be late on the 20th. If anyone wants to go to that show please PM me so that I can get tix for everyone together.

The two shows will be very different. I love Cirque. We are leaving Thursday for the Grand Canyon.
