I love St. Augustine. It's charming, full of history and culture. Doesn't hurt either that the beach condo is 20 minutes away.

Thanks for the report Lilith. I know we have some pixies from northeast Florida. Hopefully we can get them to give us a report on that region.

Florida Panhandle

The panhandle is my turf. It features a stretch of about 150 miles of beautiful white sand beaches, several large bays, and the Gulf Coast Intercoastal Waterway. Be warned, this is really not a winter beach spot. The weather is very mild by northern standards but from Dec thru Feb you really don't want to wear a bikini on the beach. If you like golf and tennis, those are truly yearround. We have lots of hot clubs for nighttime drinking and dancing. If anyone has questions about the area and about the sailing, tennis, golf, etc. just ask.

Did you hear that? Sounded like a BUMP!

My area is Jacksonville, NE Florida. Lots of coastline and history, and most of the well-known Florida hotspots are a day's drive or less away. I echo dick's sentiment about December thru February, but beyond that the weather here is great if you don't mind humidity. 95% humidity is not uncommon.

Jax tries hard to be an urban powerhouse but is mainly an overglorified Good Ol' Boy Network. We do have a nice bohemian art district tho, and commonly get the first-run movies. With our new Arena (and the fame from the upcoming Superbowl) we have been getting a lot more concerts and plays.

Even good ol' Garrison Keillor did Prairie Home Companion from the Florida Times Union Center about six months ago.

Hi all lucky Floridians!

End of April I'm heading to Savannah to visit college daughter and then on to St Marys (to tour HGTV.com million $ home that I did not win) then on to JAX. Glad to hear about the golf and art district. Any cool (hot) clubs and restaurants, quiet beaches and out of the way places (away from tourists) that you'd recommend for wifey & me?

Am a photographer so looking for quaint, picturesques areas to spend my early morning hours. I do have plans for late evening hours already.:slurp:
Ah Ha.... I should invited all the pixie lasses over to my room and update their photos.... what do ya think?

Thanks for ANY leads.

imaginewithme 03-10-2004 01:20 PM

ANd would be glad to show you and mrs. around if you're heading this way.....

imaginewithme 05-28-2004 09:20 AM

bump.....hows the weather for ya'll now? It's been 90 here in hte panhandle of Florida....too hot already......time to go travel up north somewhere....wonder where I could go?

Euphemism 05-28-2004 03:30 PM

Hot and muggy here in Jax. Pushing crates in a warehouse is losing its charm, not that it had much to begin with.

imaginewithme 05-29-2004 01:41 PM

Yeah getting hotter here every day....ready to migrate north now. What do you Floridians like to do during the spring/summer months?

asp 05-30-2004 03:16 AM

Well gee...............I would never suggest you come up here.
