So proud of you for doing this Fang! I have looked in to surgery as well but it is not a great option for me :( Get back on the proteins and you will see yourself shrink. ((hugs))
|
Thanks Lil hun.......surgery was my last option, tried so many others, i want my damn life back!
I will be doing some studying on high protein foods, and picking up some tasteless protien powder to bump up other food types also. Got my bucket list at the ready. Cant wait to start ticking off the list *L* |
I had a gastric bypass done about a year ago. A lot of friends had gastric surgery also. Some got a sleeve some a bypass and both seem to work out fine. I went from 400lbs to 215lbs in a year. What ever you do make sure you eat your protein and drink all your fluids for the day! If you make the mistake of letting yourself get dehydrated once you will never do it again! I messed up and let myself get dehydrated and it's horrible. If you have any questions about things down the road I'll be glad to try and answer them for you. Good luck!
OH! Start saving money now because all the new clothes you will need for the newly developing smaller you gets expensive quick. :D |
Thanks WhoAmI.
I need to up my protein, i know that for a fact. I'm getting peckish (not that it takes much to make that go away *L*). I need to get myself organised to have 6 meals times a day too, but i just cant fit it in sometimes. Oh i know about dehydration already, it is way not good. When i got out of hospital we were having a heatwave, when you can only drink 50ml of fluids an hour, it truely was not good. I lasted a day and i just had to go against the surgeons advice and free fluid after that (just sipped water pretty much all day, other than when i ate of course) I bought some new clothes today (they were major major on sale, so no big prob when they are too big later) and already down 2 sizes, stoked! |
I know fish is great protein and low fat. Turkey is better than chicken. You could also try protein shakes as meal substitutes for when you don't have the time, but clear that with the doctor first. If you are allowed the protein shakes make sure you look at the contents closely. I was drinking them for a while, and found some had better percentages than others.

Seventytwo and a half kilos? Holy shit.

Congrats Fangtasia and hope that your goal will be a reached soon.

I eat a lot of fish, tuna, salmon etc. Just as well i actually like it lol. Love turkey, but its unbelievably pricey, so that is not something i would be having often. Eggs are another good protein source, i ether have them cooked or add a few raw ones to a shake/smoothie. I am permitted protein shakes, once i go back to work that will be my breakfast at 3am lol. I use OptiSlim. Gonna go suss out protein powders either today or tomorrow, i want a tasteless one though so i can add it to whatever needs a boost. |

Thank you....it will take a bit of time to take this weight off, it certainly didnt get here overnight. I am looking at a gym/pool memberships at the moment to help speed the loss up some |
Finding exercise that does not cripple you is difficult. I zumba (latin dancing) but it can be hard on the knees and ankles. I found ellipticals and treadmills caused repetitive strike injuries for me and since I needed to use them so much it was pretty intense. Maybe a stationary bike and then you can move to a regular bike after?
|
Dancing is out at this stage, i carry too much still for it not to cause problems.
I was thinking the pool, swimming and even walking in the water can be good exercise and is low impact on the body. The treadmill i could do carefully, and the exercise bike. The rowing machine i could do in small amounts. I need to tone as best i can so some weight work will be needed. I will need a personal trainer to do me up a plan as i do need to be careful. My back is knackered, so will need careful building up. Hips are shot, ankles are shot. Crook shoulders (rotor cuffs), RSI in my elbows lmfao...Wlking wounded i tell ya. I just need to start off slow and as my fitness builds so can the workouts. I know i can do it, i used to be a bit of a gym junkie, yeah suprise suprise i know. 6 days/week for 2-3 hours a day, absolutely loved it, you'd come out buzzed! |
I was too. I am convinced it is part of the problem. I was burning a zillion calories back then but as life got in the way I could not keep that schedule. Now it takes sooooo much to lose anything.
|
Yeah i dont have time to do gym like that now....ok when i am not working, but add that sorta time to working fulltime and looking for another job, photography, and wanting to go back to school and its just not attainable.
But i would like to get back to it, i'm sure it will be anything but enjoyable at the start lol I wish though i had a gym buddy, might have to see if i can rope someone into coming with me i think |
I hope you find the gym buddy you are looking for....it helped me get back and take off 30 pounds. Which is only a piece of what I should lose. But it's the first time that the 30 haven't come back.
I'll be thinking of you Fangtasia...and hoping that all goes very well. :) |
