Don't listen to her Scooby! Nika is lieing to you!
|
Meet Hercules, or Herc for short *L* ![]() ![]() In this pic, herc is a bit blurry, but see the little bristlenose on the glass, it would be around 4cm, so Herc is a BIG boy (14.5cm TL)! ![]() |
I finished the 5ft rescape today. Started last night about 8pm Friday night (17th Apr 09), pulled up at 2am Sat morning (pulling plants, catching fish, draining water, removing old substrate, fully cleaning tank, getting wood just how i wanted it *L*, put in layer of laterite and dino duno, wash new gravel and put in). Started again around 8am finished around 4ish (adding 350 litres of water by the cup full, sorting and planting, clean filter and get the 'darn' thing to go again *L*, turn heater on) so approx 14 hours of work, but i love it lol Some pics Clean tank and playing with wood to get it where i like it ![]() After laterite, dino dung and gravel added ![]() Still planting, so only 4ft T8 light running ![]() Finished ~ T8's and T5's running ![]() Now i'm just waiting for it to come upto temperature before adding some fish in. The cories will not be returning (shocking for digging and knocking out new plants), now the yoyo loaches (diggers, and i dont want them messing my substrate *L*), nor the larger clown loaches (just started punching holes in my plant leaves), i'm going to trade these for smaller clown loaches (small enough to do no harm!) Oh and a suprise *L* I bought a very large peppermint bristlenose male months ago, hadnt seen it since i put it in there...thankfully it is still alive and i am VERY happy to see him!!! |
Water is clearing, scuse reflections on glass in spots, i had room lights on (OH working in here *L*) ![]() The clowns ended up going back in, and a cory snuck back in too (the cory will be moved out again, when i can catch the little turd!) |
Here's my elusive peppermint bristlenose male, he is at present living in the 4ft growout while i see if a female is going to be available to him. If i get a female, they will both move into a breeding tank. If i dont get a female, then he will go back into the 5ft with the 6 new young peps (hopefully one will mature into a female) He doesnt like to sit still, he's my shy boy *L* ![]() |
I sold off some Endlers so the rest could move back into a smaller tank...so their home now ![]() |
[center]We will hopefully hear the flipper-flapper of tiny fins *L*
What i found today ![]() They belong to my 2 cories |
I think Hercules needs new lips. His mouth is coming unraveled.

You don't have to go fast to be happy, matter of fact................. ;) |
Hey Fish Lady!
My cichlids have been doing this weird thing were they are like kissing and then swimming in circles fast touching eachother side by side. Is it possible I'm going to see babies????? Do you know if they have babies or lay eggs??? |
Sounds like breeding behaviour Lil :)
What type of cichlids do you have again? I remember you saying they look like my Maingano. If they're Maingano then they are mouth brooders & egg layers. The female will lay them on the substrate, then pick them up in her mouth, she'll then hassle the male to get him to release milt which she will take into her mouth to fertilize the eggs. The eggs will stay in her mouth until they a free swimming fry |
Wicked cool. I hope she doesn't swallow ;)
