I'm ok at the moment, thanks, FlirtWithMe. I think the worst was my daughter's guilty reaction when she realised what she'd done.

The mouse was dead when we awoke yesterday. It was a very trying day, especially when my daughter started hysterically blaming herself for stepping on the mouse 3-4 months ago. The mouse seemed fine at the time and I'm not sure if the incident is related or not.

Thankfully my toe is okay now. The exposed nailbed is a little sensitive but otherwise fine.
