It's been a while, but an update beckons.
I was in for my first out-patient appointment two and a bit weeks ago and the (not my Consultant) doctor wanted me to come in for another scan, despite my Consultant telling me I wouldn't get one for 6 months due to the tissue damage the radiotherapy had caused. Now, I was unperturbed by this at first - somewhat junior doc, I thought, covering his ass. OK. However - I looked at the appointment letter properly today, and it's for an ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration ~ in other words, exactly the same test that confirmed my original diagnosis. I can only presume it's to be on the slightly ambiguous-feeling 'muscle' I felt in my neck on Christmas Day....... I can't help but feel slightly concerned about this (shitting myself might be nearer the mark!) so I'd be obliged for your continued good thoughts, people! Thank you. |
You absolutely have been, are, and will be in our prayers. The kids my wife watches also continue their prayers for you. We'll hope that it's as you suggested; a younger doctor that's just being extra cautious.

On the upside, ultrasound doens't pump a bunch of radiation into your body, so yeah, maybe it really is a CYA thing.

*Hugs* Keeping you in my thoughts dm

My thanks and good thoughts to you all folks!
Well, I had the ultrasound, as planned, coincidentally by the same doctor who did my original, diagnosis-finding scan. While he was unable to offer a definitive "official" comment, he did say that he could see no untoward objects or shadows on the screen, and when compared to my original scans, he said that all signs of the tumour present at that time were gone. All in all, I feel very much more positive than I did (not hard!!) and now I just have to wait for the "official" confirmation. Oddly, he had no note of the 'fine-needle aspiration' that was mentioned on my appointment letter, nor did he say there was anything actually there to aspirate .... which is good!! |
Some more

Glad to hear things are on the up, DM!

Good news is best when it's about people we like.

Just thought I'd let you all know the latest. Saw my own Doctor last week, who hadn't heard from the hospital following my last ultrasound. He suggested I phone my Consultant's secretary direct, which I did, and she was able to inform me no interim appointment was required and that I am scheduled for my next routine follow-up appointment on 2nd March - the day before my birthday!
She said that no abnormalities had been detected from the scan, and they hadn't written to my own Doctor as there was nothing to report! Ah well, it just proves that no news really is good news I guess!! :D DM |
So, happy birthday? OK, over a month from now, but still...
|
Cheers GG.
