ooo~ Purple Rain ~ooo

Every once in a while something comes along and smacks me in the head and says " damn girl, you are getting old."

I read on the CNN website today that Prince's Purple Rain was 20 years old. :o Hard to believe that much time has passed. That came out when I was at the height of teenage angst and beginning the explorative phase of my sexuality.

Has anything ever caught you like that, reminding you of your youth and how swiftly time is passing?

God yes, last night at the fireworks celebration I was checking out some young ladies and realised suddenly their Moms were behind me in school... talk about a reality check. Sheeeeeeeesh

scotzoidman 07-04-2004 09:28 AM

It's more like a daily occurance to me...like having a grown child, & the other just entering his teens...& recently, the unkindest cut of all, wife & I both got notified of our upcoming high school reunion...the THIRTIETH one, ugh...

I was driving to work yesterday and switched the station when "Purple Rain" came on because I'm sick of it from 20 years ago. :)

I felt old the other week when a 23-year-old approved a picture of Alan Alda for a profile picture of a member of the dating site. :) He didn't know who Alda was!

scotz---Don't feel bad about the 30th,my wife & I both graduated
in 1961!
Our YOUNGEST daughter was in Princes fan club. He's the only person, that I ever saw, that had a Purple motorcycle. Irish

Every song from before 1980.

I remember "Little blue man" from when I was so small I was miniscule.

Totally dated LOL.

Oldfart 07-04-2004 02:06 PM

Irish, daughter -- he?

Do we need to talk?

Irish 07-04-2004 02:12 PM

O.F.---The "He" was Prince! Irish
P.S.He had a purple Japanese brand motorcycle.I don't remember
what brand it was.

Oldfart 07-04-2004 02:36 PM

Good,

worried there for a moment mate.

darogle 07-04-2004 03:07 PM

I was talking with a guy about my police days and he asked what my favorite cop show was on TV. I told him that it was "Barney Miller". He had no clue what I was talking about.

Pita 07-04-2004 03:39 PM

Ahhh Prince, how I loved him and still do even. "Purple Rain" 1984, I was 18. A whole group of us went to see it and got there late. Had to sit in the front row. That was one of the best years I ever had.

I feel older every day. Especially when I now sound like my mother when talking to my pre-teen.

dicksbro 07-04-2004 03:48 PM

Time does fly, doesn't it. I wonder if "Amos and Andy" will be on the radio tonight or if "The Cinnamon Bear" will be on this year at Christmas?

Oops .... that is getting old, isn't it?

Wait until you get out of the shower one day and look in the mirror and "SEE" your mother! :)

I feel old every time hubby and I get advertising in the mail from the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). And every time I take my arthritis medication. Getting old is a bitch!!!!

Irish 07-04-2004 10:43 PM

I have been getting them for years. We just throw them away.
AARP may be good for some!We don't particularly care for some of their philosophys(sp?)My mother belongs to it,but we disagree
on almost everything! Irish

scotzoidman 07-05-2004 01:06 AM

My oldest (21) saw the Sleep Number Bed commercial on tv, & asked me who Lindsey Wagner was...he has no clue about the Bionic Woman, or the Six Million Dollar Man...

LixyChick 07-05-2004 07:33 AM

I felt old when I read that thread (forgot who posted it) asking about a song on a car commercial...and it turned out to be Led Zepplin. I just figured everyone knows a Led Zep song when they hear one!
