Osuche's BIG Announcement!

As some of you may know, Thursday was my 10 year anniversary with my S/O. I was not planning on spending the day with him, because I was running a trade show booth in Las Vegas, and he is living in CA.

He flew in to Las Vegas Wednesday night and surprised me. On Thursday, we decided to celebrate our anniversary by getting married. Rather than stress over a big wedding....which was a significant reason for not getting hitched the past several years....we decided to do something simple that was *solely* for us.

We will likely have a big party this winter to celebrate with our friends and family. The ceremony in Vegas was very brief, and we took very few pictures...so I'd like to do something for posterity's sake. However, it felt really good (although a bit surreal) taking the leap. I didn't expect it to change anything, especially after 10 years, but it *does* feel different somehow.

I wanted to share my good news with my Pixie family. :) I've been trying to figure out what to tell friends and family -- they have been somewhat surprised to say the least -- but I know all of you will take it well. ;)

Congratulations!! A wedding should be just what you and your spouse-to-be want, and no more. I'm so glad the two of you got it, and I'm intrigued to hear that it "does feel different." Don't let your families phase you, I'm sure they're happy for you under the shock.

So....what we want to know is when the honeymoon happens ;).

osuche 10-03-2004 10:20 AM

You all are so wonderful. Thank you for your kind words and for your well wishes. I just knew my Pixie family would take it well....except for PF of course. :p

I've been doing a lot of thinking recently, and come to a few conclusions. I'm going to try and put my personal happiness first, and trying to live without regrets. I've been going through a spell of bad health again recently, and I decided that there was no time like the present to do the things I've dreamed of. Life is *much* too short, and happiness is much too fleeting, to do anything else.

So...now on to the hard parts. Finishing school, moving to CA, and starting a new life with my husband. :wine:

Hard, but most likely resulting in a type of personal satisfaction like no other. BTW, I have faith in you ;)

Thank you Ian. :D I so rarely listen to my heart I think I had to take 10 years to recognize its voice.

Psst...now it's your turn. ;)

Ginger, we haven't really gotten the opportunity to explore how it feels different together....but I think the most important thing is that I now feel like I have a reason to work on being the person I *should* be for my husband. And he told me he felt the same thing ~~ he has been eating better, and I went to the gym. And I've also tried to do and say the things that will set us up for a life of happiness. Such as going back to school. :D

Of course, there are other differences as well, but this is the biggest one.

We talked about it...but he really wanted something a bit more traditional. So we went to the Little White Wedding Chapel and were married by a real minister. ;) But inside I was imagining this 6'5" tall black guy dressed as Elvis.

Cheyanne 10-03-2004 11:28 AM

Congratulations osuche!

It is always nice to have family approve or accept important decisions that we make in our lives, but one thing that you have to keep in mind - they aren't living your life for you...you and only you are responsible for your own happiness! I am glad that you and your S/O decided to "take the plunge" and follow your hearts and do what feels right for both of you.

/me raises champagne glass in toast to continued happiness and understanding for you both!

cowgirltease 10-03-2004 11:48 AM

Congratulations osuche! I wish you all the happiness in the world and may you both grow old together in good health. :)
