the last president THIS bad was...

I'm thinking president ford but of course I wasn't much more than a stain on my father's sheets at that point.

But either way, at this point I don't know of anyone that actually believes he's good at what he does and that he's made the right decisions about things.

I'm not trying to start a political post, been there done that, I'm just trying to find out who was as big of fuckup as bush is.

Lilith 12-17-2005 09:42 PM

What part wasn't supposed to be political??

BIBI 12-17-2005 09:49 PM

I can't comment....I'm not an American

maddy 12-17-2005 10:03 PM

I'm certain there are some people that think Bush is still doing a good job... And I'm pretty sure there will not be consensus regarding the worst president in American history. And I'm with Lilith on this, which part of talking about the Government isn't political?

Yeah but you don't need to be an American to make an observation on who was a fuck up and who was not :D

Lilith 12-17-2005 10:12 PM

I liked Ford. He had the best stuff for bloopers :D

osuche 12-17-2005 11:09 PM

Ah....if only Ford had JibJab :D

scotzoidman 12-17-2005 11:31 PM

Hmmm...I'll hafta spend some time thinking about whether I dare step into this dogpile or not...

If you insist :D

Nixon and his Watergate Scandal is memorable....it overshadows any good he did. IMO

Oldfart 12-18-2005 12:52 AM

Anything we say now is lacking the perspective of time.

Ask me again in ten years.

divot109 12-18-2005 01:04 AM

The only one I can think of that comes close is...

George, Sr. Must run in the family.

What the history writers have to say then will be an interesting lesson about history.

Maddy is correct. The man was elected again a year ago.

fzzy 12-18-2005 02:53 AM

If no one you know has positive things to say about him, that may have as much to do with who you know as it does with what kind of a job the President is doing .... not voicing an opinion either way about the job he's doing, but pointing out something about each individual's perspective.

Lilith 12-18-2005 08:32 AM

BIBI, I think it's possible that the same will be the case for Clinton.

LMAO....true, but he is still around atoning for his sins.;)

Seriously though we had a Prime Minister who talked to his cat and had regular meetings with mediums so he could talk to his departed Mother. He depended on spirit guides in helping him make decisions about the country.

Of course the proof came out after his death.

Reminescent of Caligula, wasn't it he who made a horse a member of the government???

jseal 12-18-2005 09:43 AM

Lilith,

While Caligula was a tad bizarre, I believe his horse never did make it into government. The Roman emperors were a very entertain group!

Yes, it was him....so the story goes :)

dicksbro 12-18-2005 09:50 AM

Jimmy Carter always struck me as a well intentioned buffoon.

... and, then there was Hilliary ... er ... Bill Clinton ... nevermind. :D

jseal 12-18-2005 09:50 AM

BIBI,

Which one?

Which one? Horse or Prime Minister?

William Lyon Mackenzie King was the prime minister.

wanderingsoul,

While there is nothing to prevent an assessment of a president prior to the end of that Administration, you may find it easier to come to a useful evaluation if you do so. For example, there was much - very much - brouhaha about President Clinton’s behavior while on company time. Since his departure, much of the vehemence of his antagonists has been reassessed as unnecessary.

As PantyFanatic pointed out, President Bush was reelected to a second term in office by the approval of the majority of the voters – the opinions which count.

Something you may wish to consider is what makes up a good president? Success in domestic affairs, success in foreign affairs, popularity at home, or abroad? Honesty? Integrity? Skills as an orator? Should all presidents be judged by the same standards, or do different standards apply to the different times a president served?

Lilith 12-18-2005 01:27 PM

jseal,
You touch on a very pertinent point. I do think a good president is a person who is able to use his skills and influence to address the current needs of his country. The skills necessary in the 1800s and the skills needed now can not be interchanged. I do think that there may be a list of qualities people would like to see in their leaders but I believe that applies to all leaders not just political or presidential ones.

lakritze 12-18-2005 04:41 PM

There has never been a president as bad as this one. Not Hoover, not Nixon, not Reagan or not even this Bozo's old man. Ford wasn't really a bad president. He got the job with the promise to pardon Nixon. After that,he just played golf for the rest of his term. It could have been worse,Nixon's V.P. was Spiro Agnew.

alspals69 12-18-2005 04:47 PM

But why? it'snot like he had sex or anything?!!! And anyway, even if you think he did... if Monica was alleged to have given him a blow job how come she didn't blow once!?

alspals69 12-18-2005 04:47 PM

oops.. my last comment was aout clinton

Fangtasia 12-18-2005 07:21 PM

We made 535 parts of the hores the government!

lizzardbits 12-18-2005 09:52 PM

and then there was half of the country at one time that thought Lincoln was a bad president.... time and perspective play a big part in determining who was great and who was not. At everytime in American history, the President had people that disliked him, or how he ran the country.

I, personally, am not a great fan of Dubya, but as was pointed out before, he was elected by the voting public. I love being an American, and the freedoms that i enjoy every day. So I take the good with the bad, and know that in a few years there will be a new President in office......and if i don't like him or her....wait another 4 years and so on and so forth.

PantyFanatic,

What does this have to do with the president?

wanderingsoul 12-19-2005 07:00 PM

ok, my email thing didn't let me know anyone had replied to this post till now.

First let me say that I was just asking for the general opinion of the previous presidents.

The way I see it clinton was just horny, I mean hell he is married to hillary. Nixon - he was just a crook, plain and simple. I know that Ford fell down a lot but that's about it. I really wasn't looking to get into a political debate, I was just wanting to learn from my elder's ::ducks the hoard of oncoming slaps:: so to speak. I was just wanting to know how the people who lived through any particular presidency felt about him at the time. That's all

lizzardbits 12-19-2005 07:21 PM

LOL! you like my sig, then, scarecrow? I laffed aloud in the store when i saw the sticker, so i had to buy it.

ok, thread hijacking over, on to topic........
