Stating the obvious

the VMAs were awful last night.

Either that or I am finally old.

Aqua 09-10-2007 05:28 PM

I didn't watch them... although I saw a clip of the opening, uh, performance(?). If Britney's song(lipsync) and dance(aimless meandering) was indicative of the rest of the show, I'd say it was awful.

Steph 09-10-2007 05:59 PM

If the thousands of people who commented on the Britneys performance are indicative, I guess she sucked.

I thought she was the same as always. :coffee:

What I didn't understand was that people said she was fat.

I'd still do her. *shrug*

dicksbro 09-10-2007 06:43 PM

I wouldn't call her fat, either. In fact, you have to wonder if the head was empty. :(

Pita 09-10-2007 08:47 PM

My kid dragged me into her room to see Britney. Truly the worst performance I have ever seen. That girl needs serious help. And clothes!

The little bit I saw on the news showed her as woefully underprepared and she was nowhere near match-fit.

Fat, no but the outfit did her no favours.

IowaMan 09-11-2007 12:42 AM

Out of curiosity I just watched the clip of Britney's performance on MTV.com. I think OF's description pretty much hit it on the head, woefully underprepared. She didn't appear to be fat, just not as fit as she's been in the past. Still a pretty nice shape to her I'd say.

Had I been watching the show live, I sort of doubt I would've stayed tuned in following that opening performance.

Lilith 09-11-2007 04:42 AM

For me it was not just Britney. I found Sara Silverman crass and not at all funny. The "room parties" were annoying and made it hard to watch an act.

musicman 09-11-2007 06:25 AM

I watched about 10 minutes, it was at least 20 minutes too much.

wyndhy 09-11-2007 10:54 AM

didn't catch it but i know it's cause i'm too old. i don't watch most award shows and the video awards are wayy low on the list of must-see tv. but i am bummed i missed britany's debacle. i love a good train wreck:D

Britney Spears Star Power brilliance is fading out of sight.
Even in the midst of lackluster presentations of once extremely popular and vibrant stars, everything I saw of her performance had something for someone. For my two-scents (burp-fart) and more, the troop of dancers in the act were lively, talented and on cue with their end of the bargain. As a matter of fact, I would not be surprized if any one of them departed from Mama Spears' employ for higher roads on wider horizons. Spears choice of song seemed to be from a cookie cutter pattern. Her choreogrphy left the stage with the first note she mimed. However, she doesn't need ripped abs to be a stunning figure to gawk at. She knows there are at least enough empty heads out here to dig into their pockets and support her mediocre performances.

Would it be jaded of me to say that awards programs are no longer "awards" programs?

scotzoidman 09-11-2007 04:04 PM

Didn't watch a second of it.

Only wished I could have seen some of Kid Rock bitchslaping Tommy Lee.

That, & Jamie Foxx crying, "Stop all this white-on-white violence!"

It would certainly make sense on MTV... The music station that rarely indulges us with music. Why would they want to keep the awards in an awards program?

:rolleyes2

Lilith 09-11-2007 05:16 PM

Justin Timberlake upon accepting his award said, "and play more videos. We don't want anymore reality shows. We want videos."

scotzoidman 09-12-2007 08:15 AM

Hear hear

Booger 09-12-2007 05:56 PM

But it's not Britney's fault.
