Bird brain
 

Everyday for the past 2 weeks a robin has stood on top of the window ledge in the family room and 'knocked' on the window with its beak. It usually does it in the morning off and on for an hour or so. We tried scaring it off by standing in the window, waving and yelling. It just comes back when we leave the window.

I don't know if its the same bird thats been flying into the dining room window every afternoon. It hits the window, flutters to the ground, flys away for a few minutes, and then flys into the window again. It does this usually 6 to 8 times.

If I'd just seen Hitchcock's movie 'The Birds' I'd be freaking out. I remember seeing that in high school and having to walk way around the neighbors yard because they had bird feeders and lots of birds!

What movie scared you when you were younger?

We have a mother duck that just this morning decided she'd do her nesting by a bush just in front of our house. Don't want to scare her but when I can, I'll try to get some pictures. How about that, we'll beccome foster parents to some cute little ducklings. :)

Teddy maybe you should stop spreading bird seed all over the floor.

Teddy Bear, the poor robin's just having a conversation with itself. We have birds over here which are renowned for attacking reflections in car mirrors, windows and doors.

For me, a bird that kills itself by hitting the window of a house means that there will be a death in the family (but not necessarily immediate family). So if I was living at your place Teddy Bear, I'd be having a breakdown!

Adopt the bird and leave it as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The only movie that I remember scaring me was Psycho.:yikes: Had seen it seen it with my date when it first came out and then gone to 'park' in the Valley (lover's lane). Sure as hell it was foggy as heck and was NOT a mood builder.:rolleyes2 We left for the drive in Dinner. :car:


That………… and Soylent Green, which scares me more each day. :eek:

Make room, make room?

I just put the pictures of Mrs. Duck in the random picture thread. Our lovely lady seems to be doing very well. :)

I had never heard that before and it is kind of freaky since a very good friend of mine died last week. The bird is still coming around so maybe somebody else is going?

Well, it's only if the bird kills itself though. My scientific brain tells me it was just coincidences, but birds in the window predicted the deaths of some of my great-aunts just these past years.

My cat Lucy howled for attention and cried literal tears the moment my brother died in 1989. She "told" me of his death before the hospital did.

I had always heard "if the bird dies IN the house, it is a sign of the death of someone we know". :shrug:

My Dad was on some heavy pain meds when he was a teen (broke his leg pretty bad) and woke up and told his aunt goodbye a few hours before she died.

PF -- No birds in the house but theres been one in the garage. Making a mess of the cars.

Trying to visualize a bird pecking at a worm without its glasses...... "Darn thought I had it that time".

Could be worse, could be a near sighted gynecologist instead of a near sighted bird.

Seriously, if you want to stop it, try putting one of those predatory bird stick-on silhouettes on the window.

Or one of PF's famous fly-swatters.

Campers hang plastic twisted stick things that spin in the wind from there awanings to keep birds away. You can get them at like Dollar General and such in their garden sections.

Hmmmmm, teddy...I'm still trying to envision a demonic flock of ROBINS. LOL

My suggestion to eradicate your problem is to scrub off the painting of the worm on your window.

Used to have sparrows fly into the patio glass doors,put a couple of strips of tape across the glass. So they could see the door it stopped them. might try that.
Our problem now is we have a Mocking bird that has learned to mimic our phone!We will be outside hear the phone and run to get it and it will be that @#*&^% bird!

Get a cell phone and change the ringer to something funny. That way if the bird flies off it'll annoy someone else with a rather call.

Better than the mocking birds around here, who mimic car alarms.

Maybe you should record a CD and play it for your bird over and over again until it learns to say, "jay-t, you're one sexy dude!" Worth a try. :)
