Be Quiet!!!!!

I'm trying to listen to my blood flow

Oldfart 11-15-2013 06:29 PM

It would be interesting to try the room.

BIBI 11-15-2013 07:20 PM

I'd give it a go! As long as the lights are on! lol

WildIrish 11-15-2013 08:25 PM

And you didn't have chili for dinner.

BIBI 11-15-2013 09:36 PM

:doorpeek: you'd be scared

Oldfart 11-16-2013 12:21 AM

I've read of the immersion tanks for sensory deprivation. At least here you can twiddle your appendages.

Teddy Bear 11-16-2013 01:38 AM

But then 1 tiny cricket gets in the room and that'll drive you crazy too.

dicksbro 11-16-2013 06:31 AM

Think of it .. you're listening to your blood flow .. and suddenly you don't hear it anymore. :yikes:

:faint:

Oldfart 11-16-2013 06:41 AM

Be still my beating heart.

gekkogecko 11-16-2013 12:39 PM

Um, if the room is in fact, maddening, there's a strong possibility I spent 46 minutes in there, and forgot about it.

Pita 11-16-2013 07:51 PM

I need one of them rooms at work. Just five minutes of peace and quiet without the yacking of my fellow co-workers bitching about the lack of customers. HEAVEN!!

Oldfart 11-16-2013 09:00 PM

Control may be hiring out the "Cone of Silence".

gekkogecko 11-17-2013 12:54 PM

What?

Oldfart 11-17-2013 05:46 PM

:)

Lord Snow 11-17-2013 07:39 PM

It's a Get Smart reference GG. I've seen the movie with Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, and Dwayne Johnson.

The Don Adams TV series was in my mind when I said it. The Steve Carell movie was an homage to the series.

dicksbro 11-18-2013 04:06 AM

Right, Chief. :)

Would you believe I made up that reply all by myself?

No? Then, would you believe I had only a couple of folks helping me?

No? Then how about I had to hire a crew of screen writers?

Oldfart 11-18-2013 05:37 AM

The old "crew of screenwriters" trick, eh?

That's the third time I've fallen for it this month.

Lord Snow 11-18-2013 08:23 AM

Oldfart, I have no been fortunate enough to see the tv show. The movie wasn't to bad, though I'm generally not fond of Steve Carell.

Oh, I am entirely aware of the reference. I used to watch teh original series: the point is, that every time Agent 86 & the Chief tried to use it, everybody outside the cone of silence could hear (although there was inevitably no-one "outside" the Cone of Silence in the Chief's office: but every time one of them tried to say something, the answer from the other was , "What?".

Oldfart 11-18-2013 06:02 PM

It's a little like trying to explain to kids a world before recordable TV, or even ((shudder)) colour TV.

Lord Snow 11-18-2013 06:32 PM

I've watched black and white movies. My mom is a Shirley Temple fan.

GG, I was unaware of the running gag from the series. They didn't use it in the movie. They did use the cone of silence, just not the "what" part of it.

Though, I am much too young to have seen them in their first run state, I am a fan of the ORIGINAL Get Smart Series with Don Adams & Barbara Feldon. I have seen the movie as well.

They watch a show on Nick At Nite and find it incredible that you saw the show when it first came out. One young neighbor said to me, "you must've had fun in the olden days.

Oldfart 11-20-2013 05:58 AM

Isn't that where we smile mysteriously and say "Yep"?

WildIrish 11-20-2013 10:41 AM

Except when those conversations may you feel ancient.

My assistant never saw the movie "Dragnet"...much less the tv show!

That is another one I liked watching..Dragnet! I had the ending voice overs memorized.

Oldfart 11-20-2013 06:59 PM

It's a strong cultural comment that TV shows that were mostly serious have been "covered" as comedies. They just don't take us seriously.

Lord Snow 11-20-2013 08:57 PM

I've never seen Dragnet. I've heard of it though.

PantyFanatic 11-30-2013 03:15 AM

I've read about those shows in my history book. Just the facts mam.
