I drive a Kia Rio, the 2002 model

it replaces the Kia Rio 2001 model that I rolled into a ditch 3 weeks ago, unintentionally but destructively to be sure.

pje 02-09-2002 10:08 PM

LoveDiva4u,

Good choice of a car.Mustangs are my favorite.I guess that explains why i have my cobra, and just like its driver, its motor is always running and it loves to handle curves.

david owiye 02-10-2002 01:14 AM

I take the bus home.

Irish 02-10-2002 08:35 AM

Boru---I am asking you because you said that you had a Kia.
For 2002;do you know if they added a bigger engine? When I
bought my; Jeep Grand Cherokee;I wanted to buy a Kia.I looked
on the web and Kia only had a small 4cyl. for all models.I had an
old('84)Bronco11 that I would have jury-rigged to run forever.
My wife; usualy drives my Pontiac to work;(dependability)and she&one of my daughters;were bugging me to get something
newer and more dependable.I wanted something smaller and of
the same body style and while looking at ANOTHER vehicle at a
dealers;I spotted the Jeep.It had many options and an unbelievable price($12,900)I drove it;discussed it with my wife
and if they didn't raise the price;I thought;I would buy it before
they smartened up.The next day,I bought it.It was formerly a
leased vehicle;so everything was like new! Thanks,Irish
P.S.In my life,I have gotten out of more bad spots with power;
then with brakes.I have had a race-engined Firebird and many
high powered cars that I built but it's time to smarten up.As my
father said:"You can't beat a radio wave!"

Lovediva 02-10-2002 09:28 AM

I agree Pje...they handle the road so gracefully...not to mention the vibration of the engine felt in the drivers seat!!! :D :D :D

Now there is a toy I can handle driving everyday!!! ;) :D

Irish 02-10-2002 02:06 PM

Sharni---Which engine does your Kawi have?My buddy had one
and stopped by my house one day after putting a new Parelli(sp)
back tire on.When he left the tire spun through high gear by just
accelerating! Irish

Irish 02-10-2002 04:02 PM

Sharni---Sorry!I just read the thread again and noticed that it said
750. Irish

sugarfreecandy 02-10-2002 08:35 PM

Hmmm...

I guess I'm the token starving student. I can't afford a vehicle, so (like David Owiye) I'm pretty much resigned to public transit for the foreseeable future. Therefore, I'd have to describe my dream car this way:

A vehicle, preferably with circular wheels (square ones are such a pain), and which ideally would be propelled in something other than Fred Flintstone style (blisters on the feet not being my idea of sexy). Pedals are okay, a motor is better, and one which doesn't require hand-cranking to start is better still... If the whole contraption moves even slightly more quickly than I do on foot, I'm happy!

:D

Boru 02-10-2002 08:41 PM

for Irish

Nope, no new engine for the Kia Rio,

all they added was a new radio and a lumbar support in the driver's seat. That and a few hundred dollars to the price.

BORU

legend 02-10-2002 09:11 PM

I have to say, I'm in the same boat (or is that bus) as SFC

Sharni 02-10-2002 10:06 PM

Thats fine Irish.....as for spinning the wheel...it can do that.....most of my bikes power is mid to top range...

The fastest we've had it is 200km/h (Bilbo riding..me pillion)....it still had plenty of go left too....but believe me that was quite quick enough:D

Motorcycling is in my blood....i'll never get rid of my baby...ever!:D

QTPie 02-10-2002 10:45 PM

Irish 02-11-2002 08:20 AM

Boru---Thanks.By the way;I love the Cherokee and never would
have looked at one,I just couldn't pass up the price on that one!
Diva---You want vibrations?When I lived in Conn.;I built a car that
was;strictly;for the Drag Strip.It was a Willys frame,Henry J body,
and a built-up Ford "426"Tunnelport eng.It had an Art Carr hydro-
stick(the first racing autos')You used the clutch;off the line;and then shifted without it.It had an;approx.25%eng. setback for wt.
transfer. It had many other mods. One time;I was going through
the 1/4mi.;and going through 2cd;I felt a vibration. It felt like a high-speed wobble on a bike.I skipped 3rd gear and just accelerated through 4th.I coasted through the end of the strip &
down part of the return road. While I was waiting for my tow
vehicle;I got out to servey what had happened. The welds on my
traction bars had broken! The only thing holding the rear end in was the shocks and driveshaft.I had turned 140mph. flat. That's
vibration! Irish
P.S.I never checked the H.P.;but the Holmon&Moody race team&
Eng. builders had an eng. like mine that put out 750hp. on a
dynomometer. They had one 4bbl.carb less&a one step milder camshaft
than me.I don't know about cars but if you hit the brakes;in a high
speed wobble on a bike;you go down. You just grit your teeth &
accelerate through it.

Ophelia 02-11-2002 02:20 PM

Saddaddy---I know how you feel!I miss my 68 Firebird H.O.(high
output)also. My best friends father&Granfather; in my hometown
in Conn.; owned the Pontiac Dealership.I practically grew up in that garage.(hence;my love for Pontiacs.)After High School;he was
a salesman there and gave me many things for cost.He was the
salesman on my Firebird and I ordered everything by part #.
Eng. block,heads,camshaft,valves,pistons,gear ratio,transmisson,
tires, wheels, etc.I paid about 1/5 the price of the 99GrandAm Ram-
Air that I bought new;here;and it was twice the car.No plastic.
Alas;nothing lasts forever! My buddy drank himself to death so I
guess that I won't get any cars from him! Irish
P.S.I have another car and a motorcycle that's not exactly stock!
