I know I have said this before but I will state it here in all it's glory!!!...........I am a seamstress and I hate it with every fiber of my being! I have been for over 25 years!!!! EWWWWWWWWW!
Not necessarily the sewing part.....I used to design and make costumes for exotic dancers and I loved that (*Special Note....Hubby love it too!) But I was offered a lot of money to help in the upholstery business and I took it leaving my own business by the wayside. All seamstresses out there will tell you.....Don't ever let anyone you know.....you can sew!!! And although I have made history in a sense (Made the seating for the 2002 Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood) I don't like sewing or pattern making any better! I would love to make a business of stained glass........the big stuff......not those damn suncatchers! I am dabbling now. Mrs. Lix |
The unpredictable glory of telecommunications is where I'm at. I've been doing it for a little over 2 years now. I'm a network operations center technican...a lot of big words for using a computerized switching system to monitor and correct problems people have with their phones. If your T1 is down, I'm the gal you call first. :) Well actually, don't call me, I don't talk to clients lol
|
paralegal specializing in estate and tax planning for the very wealthy -- sounds like it would be boring -- but I love it.... I get to work directly with people and because we work almost exclusively with clients worth over $10 million, well..... I get to draft language for a lot of different kinds of gifts and gifting. jjjjbo

I am a Child Support Enforcement Officer :) |
I am a nurse, a Registered Nurse, for eight years, went to work right from school on the floor at a large New Orleans hospital, received advanced training in emergency care (TNCC, ACLS to you also in medicine) and transfered to the ER. spent two years of watching other's pain and suffering and torment, and when the chance to manage an outreach clinic came along, I took it.
I now manage one full time clinic and a part time clinic, and have done my job too well. Things are now so smooth I hardly ever do any real nursing anymore, and have little managing to do, mostly scheduling and ordering supplies, and long boring pointless meetings. At least it is days Mon to FR. WW |

Well those are my jobs for now.

I am a secretary for an outpatient mental health clinic. I make appointments for clients, assist the docs, read their handwriting and generally try to make things easier for the therapists. I also am the "eyes" for one of our therapists who is completely blind. I assist her with her paperwork, do treatment plans and progress notes for her, and assist her clients when they need things done.
In the past, I worked in retail, in a contract branch post office, was a telephone service representative (you know, operators are standing by....btw, we were not standing by, we had comfy chairs), administrative assistant for an advertising agency, worked in the scanning office for a supermarket, and audited time sheets for the census. sorry to have submitted my entire resume <giggle> |

I havent worked for over a year due to a nervous breakdown due to stress and complications with diabetes.
I joined the Royal Australian Air Force at 16 and did an apprenticeship on Aircraft Engines and have a ticket as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. After my military service I jioned BOC Gases and worked installing mediccal gas systems completing schooling as a gasfitter at the same time. I then did a course as a Medical Equipment service Technician and serviced anaesthetic machines, ventialators, humidicribs, medical gas and vacuum systems, flowmeters, electro surgical equipment and all sorts of related medical devices. I took courses in medical engineering and was promoted to Medical Engineering manager. I designed medical gas systems and tendered for contracts, supervised the installations and tested and commissioned projects. I also worked with the Australian standard for Design and installation of Medical Gas systems for human use. Due to down sizing I was retrenched and started my own company. The financial side of it was not to my liking and with quite a few bad or non payers I ended up in the stress situation. On doctors advice I closed the company and have not worked since. |
Well my job is a totally unglamourous but neccessary and it pays well

After my aspirations to be a Rock Star didn't seem to be paying enough to support a growing family, I found myself backing into the printing industry, starting with delivery, paste-up, camera, film work (known as stripping in the trade.) Eventually I found what seemed to be an interesting & rewarding segment in 4 color stripping, which involved composing the film that produces the full color printing you see everywhere...then computers started doing what I do...so now I'm hanging on by my fingernails in one of the few places that still does things the old way...so now being a musician doesn't seem like such a long shot anymore, with not much to lose I'm playing my bass again on the weekends for spare change & tips...stay tuned, we'll see if this pays off in the long run... |

OMG scotz!!!! My ex hubby was an offset stripper! Don't know if he ever got into 4 color though. I was gone before that. He used to tell everyone, if asked what he did for a living, that he was a stripper! But he would say, "I do it the hard way, without music!" He just got a kick out of himself for that. I never saw the humor though but, being in love, I would giggle from time to time. I heard that saying so much I would mimic him behind his back after a while. He never caught me doing it either! Then I would laugh out loud. I think he thought he was getting funnier through the years. LMAO! So, this makes me wonder, now that you have mentioned its downfall since the computer, what he is doing now? That was the only thing he knew as far as I know. Poor old sot!
Never give up your dream!!! Stranger things have happened ya know. Do you need a lead singer? *sorta Janis, with a little Melissa on the side, type voice* P.S......Your real name isn't Harold, is it? Oh no......it couldn't be! He didn't play the bass.......Never mind! LOL! *wink* Mrs. Lix |
I told that already in a different place, but here we go again: I am polytechnic engineer (mainly mechanical design - automotive industry). This month still unemployed but will start from September at a producer for car locking systems.

I have been working every Friday night for an Auction House off and on for years. I am the clerk, the one who writes all the info down of what sold to who for how much.
This summer I have been mainly a stay-at-home mother of two, until school starts in a couple weeks. Then it is back to the Art Studio where I will be listing things online to sale that have been painted, etc. I will also start back teaching dance classes again. Sometime soon my husband is starting his own business and I will work for him too. ;) -Summer :D ((Also did the preschool teacher thing with Lilith awhile back for a few years.)) |
Wow... what a menagrie of occupations. Right now I am working part time for a movie theater as their night janitor. Not a glamorious job, but is kinda fun so far. Hoping to get back into the casino industry, but it is kinda slim pickings down here.

I am an architect at a firm in N.E. We do mostly high-end risidential jobs, but also some public projects such as libraries

P.R.---What people don't realise about a job;is that someone;has
to know what they're doing;in all of them.As a mechanic;you are a bum;until;someones car or motorcycle won't start!I have to say; that as a mechanic;I was treated best;by Fishermen and members of Flight Crews on helicoptors. They respected your knowledge;because their lives depended on your performance and they knew it.Most Fisherman were like bikers;anyway. They worked hard and partied hard. Irish P.S.Never feel down about your job!Someone has to do it |
