Any Motorcycle Owners....

Hiya....

How many of us here own a motorcycle?....wether it be a road bike or a dirt squirt....chuck in a post and let us know what breed you have :)

I have a '88 Kawasaki GPZ750 A3.....black with red & silver pinstriping

Irish 03-17-2002 07:04 PM

Sharni---As you know;I have been riding for over 42 yrs.I currently
have a '71 Triumph Bonneville;bought new in Connecticut.
It is chopped,hardtail,8"fork extension,5.10 Goodyear Speedgrip
rear tire;Harley rim-custom spoked to a Triumph hub,step seat,
custom wired with a hand made electrical box, hand made sissy-
bar,Black imron paint with Kelly Green pinstriping And "Irish"on the custom dished and mounted peanut gas tank. One tooth lower
countrsproket gear(for quicker engine windup in the 1/4 mile)1/4"
steel gusseted and molded!The engine has too many speed modifications to mention.Besides-Unless you were a gear head;
you wouldn't know what I'm talking about. In '72;I attended the
Triumph factory school.I got an A in mechanics and an A+ in advanced mechanics.I can rebuild a Triumph engine in my sleep.
All of the engine tolerances and clearances are in my head.I don't
ride my bike that much anymore but it has too much sentimental
value too part with it.Not counting;many hours of work! Irish

Not for 25 years, Sharni. Yammi 125 with 180 pots and pistons,

Having sex on a motorcylce is ALOT of fun!!! ;) :D

Just be carefull you don't burn your legs on the hot exhaust pipes!!!!!! I still have a slight scar.....LOL... ;)

Irish 03-18-2002 11:33 AM

LoveDiva4u---As someone who has been riding motorcycles for over 42yrs;just let me say that Where there is a will, there is a way!Man tends to adapt to his environment!Hot exhaust pipes are just one of the things that must be watched out for. Irish

Lovediva 03-18-2002 11:37 AM

So true Irish!!! MEN can ADAPT to almost anything!!!;) :D

Irish 03-18-2002 11:51 AM

Diva---It's an unknown fact that most women can too!ANYone can
adapt if they want the end result bad enough! Irish
P.S.When you go on a few day "Run";necessity demands that you learn.A tube of hand cream only lasts so long!

(Reminds me of an old thread...Lotion or no lotion...LOL)

Wouldn't know Irish...don't use the stuff... You should use saliva instead!!! :D :D ;)

(Sorry mind in the gutter today!:p)

And thanks Irish...I think it's the first time you called me Diva :)

Irish 03-18-2002 12:18 PM

Diva---As said in anither thread that I awnsered-Petroleum Jelly-I
think.I don't use saliva!I use Triple Antibiotic Ointment with moisturising cream. The ointment heaps to heal the constant abrasive action and the moisturising lotion helps to lubricate and
moisturise. As one who really enjoys my favorite passtime;I have
constantly experimented to discover what gives the best results!
Yours in experimentation,Irish
P.S.Little secret.I never peel after a sunburn because I use the
moisturising lotion;after being in the sun.It keeps your skin from
drying out.Try it.I haven't peeled in years and we have an above
the ground(no taxes)swimming pool.

Bike/Sex joke.. thought of you guys when I heard this~
The inventor Arthur Davidson, of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle
Corporation, died and went to heaven. At the gates, St. Peter told
Arthur, "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have
changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want
in Heaven."
Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out
with God. " St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him
to God.
Arthur then asked God, "Hey, aren't you the inventor of woman?"
God said, "Ah, yes, "
"Well, " said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some
major design flaws in your invention.

1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusion.
2. It chatters constantly at high speeds.
3. Most of the rear ends are too soft and wobble too much.
4. The intake is placed way to close to the exhaust and finally,
5. The maintenance costs are outrageous."

"Hmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."
God went to his Celestial super computer, typed in a few words and
waited for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God
read it.
"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed, " God said to
Arthur, "but according to these numbers, more men are riding my
invention than yours."

I'm thinking of taking lessons, but its quite expensive . I do fancy getting a bike though now that i can afford it. MissX has taken lessons and has her own Leathers etc, think it would be cool to go out riding together...

Irish 03-23-2002 12:53 PM

Mr.X-----Altho;I am no expert;let me give you some advice;from my perspective.I have been riding for many years and;in my opinion;alot of people make the same mistake. They learn to ride and handle; a motorcycle;that is much smaller then they will be using everyday. It may be easier to handle but I have foundthat it is better to have your body and mind used to what you will be using.Don't forget-You usually only get one chance.Plus you have no protection!I may sound like an old man but I have been riding for over 42yrs.Sooner or later;you have to think of practicality not
just fun!I know many riders that are very good and race on dirt&ice but will not ride on the road.As they say;the other drivers
don't get hurt but you do! Irish
P.S.I will get off of my soapbox now.I'm just trying to help someone to not make the mistakes that I did.I've been riding since I was 15yrs and there were many of them.Of coarse;at 15;
you know everything!

MissX 03-23-2002 01:05 PM

Hi Irish, Thanks for the advice, I saw a lot of that when I was doing my CBT. I failed my full test but hope to take it again before my CBT runs out.

I did try the bigger bikes but I lack the confidence to handle them, so I reckon is a small, perfectly formed model for me! :)

Irish 03-23-2002 01:33 PM

Miss X---Forgive my ignorance;but what is a CBT?i never heard of
it and as my father said:There is no such thing as a stupid question. The only way that you have the answer is to ask. Irish
P.S.I wasn't saying that you must have a big motorcycle.Just to
learn on what you will ride.It sounds as if you are doing just that.
