Lurking vs. Post Hogging

It's been said that anyone who drives faster than you is a maniac...

...anyone who drives slower than you is an idiot.

Can the same be said about someone who doesn't make the "right" number of posts?

RandyGal 11-24-2002 02:43 AM

Is someone counting?

PantyFanatic 11-24-2002 02:55 AM

I don't think the speed matters as long as neither causes a wreck. ;)

RandyGal 11-24-2002 03:04 AM

Type faster pantyfanatic.....it looks like I'm catching up to ya! :p

*licking my fingers to stop them from smouldering*

LOL

PantyFanatic 11-24-2002 03:25 AM

My grandmother said you don’t have to be omnipresent to be omnipotent. ;)

incitatus 11-24-2002 04:01 AM

Eh?

(I mean, I understand the sentence -just not exactly sure how it relates...)

jennaflower 11-24-2002 09:22 AM

Nope..

it isn't the quanitity that is important.. it is the Quality :)

I don't post LOTS.. tho sometimes I have my moments and post more than I regularly do. I tend to try to pick my threads carefully.. in order to not grab too much of the attention.. yet still get to know some of the wonderful people here.. and allow them to get to know me :)

Steph 11-24-2002 09:30 AM

But there's no limit to how many posts you can make in a day, is there?

PantyFanatic 11-24-2002 09:33 AM

Jenna- :)
Whenever you post, you have my FULL ATTENTION! :p

My thought exactly.

New people especially are bound to post like crazy because:

1. It's something new for the person.

2. They are responding to old posts; they want to catch up with everyone else.

jennaflower mentioned quality:

I personally don't have a problem with anyone's posts, as long as they follow the universal rules--No insults, no illegal posts. The quality of posts can be a personal thing.

Also, I've heard this mentioned a couple of times:

Not wanting to get a lot of attention. What's wrong with that?? IMO, it's all about being real. Some people are more gregarious and loquacious than others. I don't find that offensive at all. I may not like what some people say, but so what? As long as they aren't insulting people or saying illegal things, who cares? A person doesn't have to read their posts. I certainly don't read everyone's posts; I don't have the time anyway....

To be honest, I wish everyone would--if you haven't already--say something about yourself to get everyone's attention, because that's how I can really distinguish your real personality from everyone here, since there are so many people here.

I go in spurts! I'll post more on the weekends. But during the week I only get a few minutes here and there to add my two cents and then I am gone again.

Postin, postin, postin..........gee my butt is swollen! RAWHIDE!!!!

Teehee!

Imagine you are driving on the motorway and you are being taken over by a rocket-driven dragster... this might be a little too much, because there is no time for the driver to check if there are some moving barriers in the way.

RandyGal 11-24-2002 09:07 PM

hee hee hee LixyChick said she "goes in spurts"

hee hee hee I'll just BET she does. :D

I'm not sure if there is a problem with lurkers it's just that we encourage them to post.

I think that it isn't problem with someone posting to much it's when people start using the threads to post every random though or to just chat away with someone else. They have a PM system and a chat room for that kind of stuff.
