Boy, what a day!!!

Got up this morning and powered on my computer to take care of e-mails and check out new Pixie postings ... when this blue screen appears ...

"Windows Protection Error ... reboot your computer."

Needless to say after five attempts I decided this was perhapes not the solution to my problem. Machine's under warranty (as many of you know all too well), and so I called the technicians (many of whom are becoming first name friends). They had me use the QioclRestore disks ... reformating the hard drive and rebuilding Windows and other original software.

Then the rest of the day was spent recovering my stuff from backup disks.

I think I'm starting to hate this machine. Had it a year ... but it's been to California twice to be serviced since November and then, this time, had me tied to it all day. Frustrating. But, at least I'm back on.

Guess it could be worse ... er ... maybe I don't want to say that.

:D :D

Thank you, Lil. I still think it found a cute young computer out in California and was hoping to go see her again. :D :D

Fooled him this time. It wasn't even a female technician! :D

Just two words:

Bumm-mmer!

What kind of computer do you have?
(Other than a crappy one)

*please don't say HP -I just got a new HP recently.
BTW, Windows XP sucks -but not in a good way*

Dicksbro don't you just love modern electronics. Do you have any diagnostics or just scandisk and defrag?

Sharni 01-07-2003 07:34 PM

Sympathise with you dicksbro...

When we bought our new puter...brought it home did the whole install thing...went to connect to the internet...and boom...the modem fried the motherboard...finally got the whole machine replaced...went through the whole thing again and the motherboard fried again...
Third time lucky for us....this was over a course of 6 months after approximately 500+ phone calls to the company....and much frustration and anger on our part...

Shit happens.....the third machine turned out to be an excellent....just annoying we had to go through the 2 lemons beforehand

And to think we are just about to buy another new puter *rolls eyes & crosses fingers :D*

I'm beginning to think what my computer needs is not defrag, but just FRAG...a strategically placed fragmentation grenede oughta put an end to my computer probs...

You know what they say " Format C: solves all your computer problems"

Sharni 01-07-2003 08:15 PM

*LOL* not everything......it can't solve a fried motherboard

kleclere 01-07-2003 08:23 PM

They have a commercial for CDW where a guy says" Fred I think I fried the mother board and the father board too."
