Just heard that it is a software problem. They are trying to reboot the rover, but it may take up to 2 weeks to get the software updated.

jseal 01-31-2004 06:53 AM

Gentlefolk,

The Mars rover Opportunity has rolled off its lander on to the surface of the planet, a week after arrival. The operation went as planned with the rover travelling a distance of three meters.

The science can now start for Opportunity.

Yeah team!

Is it running a Windows OS? In which case there will be a patch out in about 3 months if enough people complain
