Music to Die for

A friend of mine died recently and his family asked me to help with the music for the service; we had a lot of fun aaand it helped us all.

So here it comes: What would you like at yours?

For me it's "Shine On You Crazy Domond", Pink Floyed:as the people enter
and " Sympathy For The Devil" Rollong Stones as they leave.

It might sound a bit morbid,it isn't, have fun with it.

Both your choices are ok in my book seaker...but I have some "buts"

But...what if Great Grandma is there and has her hearing aid activated? Awwwww, com'on...you know she'd bitch!

But...

But...

OK...so I can't think of any more buts at the moment (and I have to say that all memorials are personal tributes and each loved one has to choose his or her own ideal way)...

But I just feel like I have to say "but"!

So very sorry to hear of your loss hun! My deepest sympathies to you and the family!

*hugs*

*hugs*

And *rock on* and see my sig. for mine!

anything dealing w/ the stones gets my vote

I've always thought Sympathy for the Devil is a great song to play....as far as mine, it'd probably be "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC...LOL

LixyChick 07-12-2004 08:55 PM

OK...OK...I've had time to think...and I think I want...

"Psychedelic Shack"

*showing my age again...eh?*

Hymns for me... sung by a mixed quartet.

"I Know That My Reedemer Lives"

"Oh, My Father"

"Nearer My God, To Thee"

HE knows which hymnbook to find these songs in.

Not a big Stones fan, but I always thought it was cool that they played "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at the funeral in "The Big Chill"

Oldfart 07-13-2004 02:03 AM

Yes, Scotz. And we never saw Kevin Costner's face as the dead friend.

For me a mix.

Dean Martin "La vie en rose"

Gregorian "Sounds of silence"

Mary Hopkins "Those were the days"

Seekers "The carnival is over"

London Philharmonic "Jerusalem"

Cold Chisel "Flame trees"

and just to confuse them, as a parting shot,

an instrumental version of "Hotel California".

Hmmm, man I'm not really sure. Just because, there will have to be bagpipes. As for anything else, let me think on it.

Lixy.. you talk about butts any time you want... :p

I second Eros in Sympathy for the Devil. On the same theme, I think Devil went down to Georgia would be good. I can't dance from Genesis (I've always like that song...and it's be even more appropriate then), Satriani's Surfing with the Alien, and finish it with Queen's The Show Must Go On.

I want a party. I don't care if you're happy to have known me, or happy to see me go, but live it up for me :-)

Music to die for

What about ' A Shogun Farewell' - a haunting melody which conveys everything!

Moonchild 09-16-2004 04:40 PM

This probably sounds odd but I have one song that I would liked played on my wedding day and when I die, What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. I always get a tingly feeling when I hear that song.
