Rewind

Rewind your life back to when you were 18. What would you do differently? Anything you know now that you wish you knew then?

Oldfart 09-22-2004 07:52 AM

If I knew then what I know now, what an exciting new series of fuckups would have

awaited me.

Very well put OF. ha ha

If I would have done something differently then I would'nt be where I am now and I like the feeling of where I'm at now.

Much, but I most likely wouldn't understand it any better now than I did the first-go-round.

I've made a lot of mistakes since that time...but I'm not sure I would change much, if anything, because I wouldn't want to chance losing what I have now--a man who means the world to me, and two children who are the light of my life.

I'd be able to change some things that weren't really my fault but affected me in a big way, mostly dealing with college.

I would change things education-wise. I wouldn't drop out of college at the end of my third year to start my family. I'd make sure I had a fallback position and I'd open my eyes to reality. Of course, when I was that age, I was a completely different person than I am now and I honestly doubt I would have been able to be convinced that I should have done anything differently.

I've had alot of bumps and bruises since I was 18. But looking back, I see how each one has brought me closer to where I am today...and more importantly where I am going tomorrow. So I'm not sure if I would change the events themselves, but I would change the way I looked at them and my attitude at the time.

I would have taken better care of myself and maybe have pushed myself harder to attend the college I was accepted to.

I wouldn't have had an abortion. I would have told my parents and faced their consequences instead of being afraid of them.

you know what they say, hindsight is 20/20.....................

Fate has had a funny way of taking chickenshit and making chicken salad for me. I've had some real screwups but have managed to land on my feet. Even in the face of troublesome times I have two anchors who keep me grounded and headed forward. I'd love to have gone on to college and maybe made wiser choices but for the life of me I can't say my feeble financial or social status takes away from the rewards I've reaped from raising two of the best kids I know of. Proud Pop? Yep, damn right... and I'm still pushing. I just enrolled back in school to try to finish my degree. I start tuesday evening. Who says an old bear can't learn new tricks?
