An amazing tribute to our vet's!

Awesome Art in Iowa.
I'm told that there is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing it's character many times. A few months back, the rock received it's latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It's quite an impressive sight. Be sure to check out the multiple photos (all angles) of the rock. I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it's not. It's actually painted on the rock too. A few more, including the artist.
Thank you to all our vet's!!! :) |
Thanks TB. As most of you know, I am retired from the Air Force. I think tomorrow is the 2nd most important day of the year for me profesionally. The first has to be 9-11.

Beautiful what was done painting that rock ... and let me echo TB's appreciation for all that our vets' have done to help insure our freedom.

We (Mr. Lixy and I) are in awe of the vision of the artist that saw a rock...a rock with potential...a rock to inspire...a rock to curtail vandalism...an invitation to cause men to kneel and take homage of the things we take for granted!
TY to the veterans of this country, and our allies, for taking on the job of sticking up for our rights and privledges! *bows low in honor of our vets* |
Teddy.. it is neat to see the rock... :D
Here is the link to the site and the current art painted on Freedom's Rock http://bubbazartwork.com/patriotic_rock.html |
That is beautiful work. I also would like thank all our vets for all they did and gave up for us!

Thanks for sharing the pics, Teddy! Great paint job. I particularly liked the quote of Thomas Jefferson.

Wow. How did he do that flag? Bubba's hot, too. :D It's wonderful to see a young guy like that do the work he's doing.
This is the first year Canada doesn't have any WWI veterans left. :( My office gave us poppies and a copy of "In Flanders Fields". I was impressed. In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. |
The BEST use of paint I have ever seen.
A Salute to all those who have and will serve our country!!!!!!!! |
Wow...very impressive work
