Why is it that all the good guys in the world leave us too soon? May the peace of the after-life be with him always. Our lives were richer for having listened to his smooth and beautiful voice.

Lung and brain cancer.

Someone was telling him his time was definitely up.

I tell you what, losing Barry White, Luther Vandross, and Lou Rawls has been quite the loss for those of us who still like to slow dance.

He will be missed ... loved his voice!!!

Tis sad indeed. So long Mr. Rawls... rest in peace.

Thank god for those electrical recording thingies.

Voice like raw silk, & as a musician (I >try< to do justice to Lou's parts when my band plays "Bring It On Home"), I have so much respect & envy for the ones who are so good, & make it look so easy...

I knew what this was when I saw the thread title. :(

May his family know the comfort that voice brought to so many.

I was just reading about him and he leaves behind 2 grown kids, his wife and one infant.
